Looking For Some Good African Archery Hunting?
      #10546 - 02/03/04 12:31 AM

Hey All,

I am getting very good reports from my Limpopo Valley, RSA archery outfitter right now. They have had over 500 mm of rain this season so far, the most ever and the browse and grazing is at an all time high quality for the game.

The outfitter/owner has been doing some scouting and reports some 26" plus Impala and at least a 25" Red Hartebest, one of the Wildebeest bulls seen was at least 30". These are fabulous archery trophies. He's got great warthog, kudu, zebra and gemsbok too. Premier blinds and lodging.

Anyway, if you are thinking of doing an archery hunt this year in Africa you should do very well here.

In reply to:

and at least a 25" Red Hartebest

This is one of the main "beests" I will be after on my next safari. They beat me last time.

Ann,

What are some package prices for hunting Africa right now? Is one area a better deal than the next?

Africa is on my short list Of hunting destinations.I am not sure if I would go with my bow alone or take a rifle as well.

Prices vary with some of my outfitters. The particular place I have mentioned here is strictly an archery set up. Nothing is shot at with firearms. You would do very well here if you only wanted to bow hunt.

One of my other guys in RSA offers both firearms and archery hunting but he is in a different area. Best thing to do is get pricing when your short list is about a year away from commiting to a hunting date. Prices can vary depending on the exchange rate.

John, I think those red hartebeests are pretty stately creatures. A bull is on my list too. I have taken a cow, still has a nice set of horns.

"stately beasts"?

Hell beasts! Red and with the correct horns of Lucifer. Damn things outsmarted me, but not next time!

Yes they are nice "beests".
