Bore gun barrels

Are 12, 16 and 20 gauge rifled replacement barrels or blanks available? I thought it would be a great way to convert a shotgun to a rifle.

12 and 20 are avalible from Hastings. The last 20ga barrel blank I recieved was pretty short, 26" I think. They are only avalible in a very fast twist set up to stabilize sabots. This is a great way to get a double rifle for whitetails without breaking the bank.

Mine are from E.R.Shaw, even shorter! They'll be lucky to clean up at 24 inches. Disappointing, as I had intended to make them up as a 12-bore Paradox but that length is just not 'pukka'! Consequently, they're still lying in the corner awaiting inspiration!

I thought Paradox's were only rifled at the muzzle? 24" would make a nice 12 bore double if the twists were slow enough. BTW - what twist does Shaw put in the 12 bore size It looks nice and straight, perhaps a round ball twist?

Sure Daryl, liberal use of a floating reamer would be required to clean out the bore up to a nominal forcing cone, leaving rifled chokes.

Twist rate is not as fast as some, but still way too quick for RBs at 1:28 right-hand twist.

A stumpy bore-gun is the most likely eventual outcome, especially if I can figure an easy way to make super-magnum LT-capped or Holland-style magnum nitro paradox projectiles, for which that twist-rate would be fine going by surviving guns from the period.

I am thinking of getting a set of Hastings 12 gauge barrel blanks. I believe the twist is 1:34. They are 26" long.

I am goinbg to do a 20 Ga Bore Rifle. I bought an H&R 410 single shot, sent it back and had two 20 Ga rifled slug barrels fit. They are 60 bucks a piece. You will have to cut the lug assembly and sights off but they are turned down pretty good already, save a lot of lathe time. 24" long. Will see how it works when I get back from Iraq fall of 09.

I received a matched set of 12ga rifled barrels from Hastings yesterday. They are 29"long and do have a 1:34" twist. Should work out fine if I don't screw them up!

Badger Barrels in Wisconsin manufacture both 12 & 20 ga 30" long 1 in 30" and 1 in 36" twist in the 12 ,not sure of the 20 ga twist rate. They will profile to suit your requirements.

Pac-Nor list a 12ga with a 20 twist.
