I wondered if anyone has done this conversion in Australia ?Lother Walther make 577 N.E barrels ,i have a no1 in 375 which i was going to convert to 500 n.e, but i have always wanted a 577 , but $25,000,for a double is too way out for me .If i ever get to Africa for cape buffalo or N.T for water buffalo, i would love to see the effect of a 577 on either.

This isn't Oz but quite a few of smiths here stateside have done the conversion. Even if the barrel has plenty of weight forward, you need to add weight to the butt or put in a couple of recoil reducers. Another thing you'll have to do is to glass bed your wood to the gun also. Otherwise, the recoil will separate your wood from your gun. Ruger No. 1's are fairly light so all that has to be factored in. Just a couple of things to think about.

One other thing and it's the only time I'd ever, ever suggest it: It needs a (shudder) muzzle brake.

I've been building shooting and hunting with custom single shots for decades and I have two pieces of advice about mega cartridges and one-shooters.
If it is heavy enough to dampen the recoil, all of the weight is in the barrel and it won't handle worth a damn.
It is not really a great idea to hunt dangerous game with a single shot. It certainly has been done, but these days that probibly means the PH will actually kill the animal, and maybe in our face.
