In truth I think that is the answer.

Changing this from theoretical to practical, what do you have?

I have the old Lithgow Slazemger .22 RF bolt action. Started off shooting with it.

I have a Martini-Cadet.222 Rimmed. Needs to have mounts fitted and a scope.

A Martini-Henry sporting rifle in .45/70. An old rifle from the Ned Kelly era of Victoria.

And while combination shotgun rifles, I regard these as single shots, my Tikka/Valmet 512SD in 12 gauge, and 7x65R and .223.

My Mauser M03 in .222 Rem, has a magazine with a faulty spring, so is a single shot for several years as well. I use this rifle a lot.

I would like a nice Euro break action single, lightweight, long barrelled in a medium calibre chambering. And a classic in .303 British.

Oh boy

Didn't think to add the front loading rifles.
There's plenty of them from .36 to .62, Flint and cap lock rifles.

Single shots I have:

From top to bottom:

Alexander Henry .450 3-1/4" Express made in 1871;

John Rigby & Co. .40-70 SBN made in 1880;

Army & Navy Farquharson .450-400 3-1/4" Nitro Express made in 1911; and

Fraser .303 made around turn of the century.

An all original BSA Martini Cadet.

I have several Stevens Model 44-1/2 rifles.

A stunning Rigby .40-70 SBN.

A Winchester High Wall .32-40 that's incoming. Not yet in hand.

A Stevens-Pope .32-40 that's incoming. Not yet in hand.

A Winchester High Wall Winder Musket .22LR.

A Model 1873 Springfield trapdoor .45-70.

A Shiloh 1874 Sharps .50-140.

A Marlin Ballard No. 9 .38-55.

An Enfield Martini-Henry Mk. IV .577-450

A Borchardt Rifle Company Mod. 1878 .45-70.

I also have a Ruger #3 that was originally a .375 Winchester but has been re-chambered to .375 2-1/4" Flanged NE (also accommodates the rimless version of the cartridge). No photos on hand.

There possibly could be others. I need to look.

I used to have quite a few single shots, mostly varmint rifles. Almost all of them have passed on to other owners, but I still have a few: an original Winchester 1885 High Wall in .45-70, a Farquharson in .450/.400, a Sharps Borschardt Mid Range Target Rifle in .40-60, a Ruger No.1 in 9.3X74R, a Ruger No.3 in 6X47 and a Farrow in R-2 Lovell. However, if I were to go hunting this afternoon, this is the one I would take:

An original Winchester 1885 High Wall in 7X57R, metal work by my late friend and business partner, Harry Creighton of Nashville, Tennessee and the signature tiger maple stock by the late Hal Hartley of Lenoir, North Carolina.

How about some info on that one, Daryl;

Cases used, loads?

Read about them, but never owned one. When did you get that 71?

Very neat gun there.

Amazing collection there Cap to say the least!
All are certainly more than worthy examples in your collection, but to me your Army & Navy Farquharson .450-400 3-1/4" Nitro Express......is the 'prettiest' of them all for me!
