red show the ara where the muskrat was native and green where it was introduced and then spread out

its a little wonder nobody had the idea to send some to australia once.
notice on the maps it dont live in the swamps of florida. maybe it don't like a hot climate but I bet they have some other animal there now, maybe the south american nutria.

Muskrat = Swamp Rabbit - used to have some recipes in my old wild game cookbook. I never cooked one, though, so cannot comment on what they taste like.
Here, they can only be killed by trappers as they are classified as "fur bearer" only.

I miss my rat hat, issued to me in 1973 when in Smithers Detachment. Don't know why all 3 chosen for the picture, are native members. Well, actually, might be a Ukrainian from Saskatchewan or Alberta in the middle.

Have to read the article, but I am so sick of this negative conflict crap we always have to have nowadays, "Animals Rights vs Tradition and Fur" or whatever the title was. There is no such thing as "animal rights", animal welfare yes, but no "human rights" for animals.

I will have to take photo of my fur hat on a day when it is cooler. And start a new thread, having driven this one so far off topic for poor buckstix and his non muskrat kill!
