Absolutely wonderful!

I once (2012) had the opportunity to ride in a 1941 Stearman biplane from Dillingham Field, Oahu, along one of the paths taken by the first wave of Imperial Japanese 'visitors' over Wheeler Field, and on to Pearl Harbor. The view on approach to Pearl was much as would have been seen by the first wave of low level dive bombers on 07 December, 1941, but for only one WW2 era battleship - the U.S.S. Arizona at its final resting place.

On return to Oahu's North Shore and Opana Point (where the invaders were first spotted on that newfangled R.A.D.A.R. thingamajig) we did aerobatics (loops, rolls, stall, invert flight) over the famed 'Pipeline'. There's nothing quite like watching surfers shoot the curls by looking up while you're flying invert over them.

It was a wonderful, beautiful, delightfully rude machine. Oil and avgas spit mixed with the cool Hawaiian air and mist that blasted one's cap and goggles, rather like a wild Willys Jeep ride in 3-D (I drive a '46 Willys with hot rodded 225 Buick V6).

I'd recommend it to anyone!

Oh, and by the way...

That's the shuttle, Endeavour, being towed to its final destination in Los Angeles, passing by Randy's Donuts (a former Big Donut store).

Love those Steeman's. Was going to be my next RC plane, likely 1/4 scale for my 30cc OPS engine, but then fell off that wagon.

LOL - losing my sense of proportions - might have been an overpowered plan for a 1/5th scale something in an 80" to 85" wing span. 1/5th would be about 77".

LOL - time posting is interesting - much depends on where in the world you live, but to answer your question, no, I don't sleep. Figure for many years now, I'm on borrowed time. At least that is what my wife tells me - what does she mean?
Anyway, I guess I'll catch up after I'm dead.

I'll add, that if I want to remain in bed for 8 hours, I have to take 2 sleeping pills, over-the-counter actually works - for now. I take them 2 hours before I plan on hitting the sack. Has to do with the 34 years in government service - all but 4 as a peace officer, 4 years as a tree cop with compliance and enforcement in the logging, revenue branch - LOL.

Thanks Daryl, I only sleep five hours a day, I can't manage much more but I do have a fifteen minute power-nap at lunch time. Keeps me going for the rest of the day.

What I actually meant was that you seem to be heavily interested and involved in a huge number of different fields which if I added all the time you spend on each activity together makes you about 600 years old. I thought I was bad eneough being interested in everything but you take the cake. Good to see though, that's what life is all about.

Totally agree Waidmannsheil and Thank You Daryl!
Aren't we lucky to have forums like this, that people like Daryl and others, can share their knowledge and experience!

Glad you blokes liked the P51 video's.
I have a bad case of the "I Need's" a model P51-D!
The walls of my Funshop, are covered in A3 size images of P51's, Spitfires (mainly) and Air Cobra's, Thunder Bolts (P-47), Hurricane's, etc. These have been sourced from the annual www.ghosts.com and other Calender's.
A now departed Powder Burner from our pistol club (Tony B), had one hanging from the ceiling of his garage. I probably need to contact his wife, and see if it is excess to her needs (for an appropriate sum of money). It has a wing span of about 6 feet/1.8 meters, and I reckon it would look even better, hanging from the ceiling of my Funshop.

Rothhammer1, Thank You for sharing your Fly Over, and the images with us.
That fly over (in that aircraft), would have been a absolute Blast!

Problem;
How does one transport and deliver Jeeps to distant battlefields loaded, crewed, and ready for action?

Solution;

While the Hafner Rotabuggy was being developed and tested in the UK, The British Horsa and American Waco CG-4 gliders made their appearance rendering the 'convert - a - Jeep - to - an - autogyro' idea obsolete.

Hard to beat a P51, would have been a tight tussle with a Spit as to which was better - but don't those Merlins sound awesome!
Loved the Mosquito & the Lancaster, I reckon they sound better........just more of a good thing!

My cousin, "Eddie", Art Edwards flew a Bristol Beaufighter out of Northern England during the second war. The 'flight' was called the "Strike Wings" & hit the Northern German shipping, sinking 300,000,000 metric tons of it.

Eddie thought the Beaufighter was the best fighter in the air, with it's 4 nose mounted 20mm and the 4 (or was it 6?) .50's in the wings. This may have been only the Strike Wing's planes, out of Scotland, I don't know.

Seems to me, with only 2 .50's mounted, they could also carry 8, 60 pound rockets. He spoke of tests against ships using the noses of the rockets being solid concrete & these penetrated better than the AP or EX. heads, shooting right through some of the smaller ships.
