Sville, what a brilliant idea !! Was it easy to set up ? what sort of rack do you need on the back ? who supplied the equipment ? I presume it is electric and you have a remote ? thanks, Mike

Very easy to set up. I use the attachement to the Warn winsch and some straps. The thrower is called Easy Bird. You see the battery on the footstep. Its a remote control so you can handle it by yourself. A lot of fun

You´ve lost me on the warne winch attachment, I can see the winch, presumably the thrower bolts onto that and you connect to the battery, when you transport it do you put it on the back rack ? The reason I am asking this is I am thinking about investing in a big trap for down here but if I can have one that I can move anywhere easily, great, can you adjust angles etc on the thrower ? can it do rabbits ?, cheers

I have two attachement for the Warn winsch, one in the back and one in the front. I transport it as you see in photo.No rabbits. I can adjust it up and down, otherwise I must move the vehicle.

Love it, now here we go guys, can someone set up a pole on which is everyones´s favourite ATV and why ? has to be able to mount a trap machine as per Sville, best, Mike p.s. thx to the poll setter, I haven´t a clue how to do that

Daryl, technically I wasn't hunting either...snaring actually, the rifle was just there for targets of opportunity.

The two varmints ended their days quite dapperly donning neckties...

A couple of mine,the tailgate of my Hi-lux with stag 1/4 `s and two scotches wrapped up

a pic of the mates ute from the 80`s of my hound hunting days

a Holden Astra of the missus with a road kill spikey I picked up for dog tucker

Same spikey that I used as a 'drag' for my pups. This 2 wheeler has been replaced with a 4wd version Honda.

A stag I shot a couple of weeks ago that I picked up on my 4wd bike.Thats his liver in the footwell for the hollow logs.

This was my "Suzi" that I got rid of when my mate sold his 6.5 thousand acre property. We cruzed many a mile after foxes at night or crop raiders. When this photo was taken, the roof mounted spotlight had been removed and was suffering from the first stages of vehicle cancer.

My 4x4 Isuzu/Rodeo set up for spotlighting. I have the 2nd smaller light you can see attached to the drivers door. Often I need to see where I am going while the two on the back keep sweeping for game.

The rack over the cab is adjustable for height and the 2nd battery is on the front left in the tray. The engel fridge/freezer is only there during summer and the large metal box holds recovery gear, spare parts and tools. The vice is bolted to the aluminium tray and swivels 360deg. I use it to hold a chainsaw when sharpening he chain or for general repairs.

Fully loaded with rack gone and rear bar inplace.

My brother and I pictured in our early teens with our hunting vehicle (tractor and trailer) way up in the top block of the cattle farm we lived on. No fencing in this block and unlimited numbers of red deer moving from the surrounding native bush replacing those we shot, quite often up to 50 or so in the springtime each year. Our rifles are in the photo, I used a 32 Remington pump and my younger brother a single shot Winchester 22LR. He had to stalk in close, crawling on his belly in the bush clearings to make a killing shot. He was most often very successful and soon learned to shoot straight and accurate. My little 32 Rem with its 170gr flat nose bullets was just magic in my hands especially as I'm a lefty anyway.

The little tractor and trailer sure went some places especially if we bolted on a couple of wheel spades but we still had to carry those reds on our backs to get to where we could pick them up with the tractor. We were about 13 and 15 years old in the photo and used to stay overnight in the old hut to get in an evening and early morning shot. Those were the days when men were men and boys were pretty close to men too.

Ford 1999 F250 w/ 7.3L turbo diesel, Detroit lockers front and rear, Milemarker hydraulic winch at front, Line-x spray-in bedliner (keeps blood from rusting the bed). As seen here, the truck has 1/4 million miles, equivalent to ten times around the world at the equator. Runs strong, everything is tight, no wind whistles or sagging doors, no rust anywhere. I expect it to go another 1/4 million miles.

Tatume - if that engine is as good as my old 6.2 Litre Allison was, it will be good for a million miles. My '85 Blazer had 780,000 on it when I sold it, and it's still running around town, 11 years later. The only engine work, was new head gasgets at 750,000 & and 2 injection pump re-builds.

Thanks Erik, Good tyres but it would not have been of help in that situation. It was after a flood and a block of concrete with a Y-fence pole was burried just under the sand and it pierced the sidewall. I had to throw away a brand new tyre

My own hunting "rides".

My old one!

It used to guzzle fuel like a Darwinian with beer. About 3 1/2 miles to the gallon at the end.

With Australian Deer Association sticker.

My "new" one. I prefer to spend money on hunting, than cars.

I'm diggin that Jeep, too.

Here's the closest I can come. Stays pretty much on the ranch, but here it is my Right Arm. It has hauled all sorts of ranch stuff everywhere, up the mountain and down. And tons of game, too. Will climb a tree...

Poor thing never gets top billing in a picture...gotta change that;

I have been on horses my entire life.. been kicked, bucked, fallen on, reared over backwards, you name it.. BUT, some of the most enjoyment of my life has been on a horse.. Love that part on guided hunts in foreign countries..

Many of my friends I hunt with are horrible at riding a horse.. the last trip I was on, my buddy was thrown 3 times by the time we got to the main camp.. The next day he said it was his horse..so we switched horses.. not 100 yards out of camp he got thrown again

.. I laughed so hard I nearly peed my pants..

My kids are becoming extremely good at riding them.. I do think the younger you are when learning the better.. kinda like most things in life..

Horses are freakishly powerful.. best to learn all the levers before going into full operation..

49 to 1 gear reduction, will haul two deer at a time. Will fit down a normal corn row.

Will travel down a water filled deer run in the swamp, water above the tire.

21 mile per gallon. Walking speed.

I also built a 4 wheeled version for Island hunting and moving gear.

Well , mine is partially battery opperated. I use my battery to start my FJ60. Hell of a lot easier than doing a push start.

One doesn't need to worry about being forced to switch to an electric vehicle. We won't be permitted to take long car trips, hunting trips, drive,anyway.

It is claimed Australia needs "one million new "social" housing" units". Developments need not comply with all the normal private rules, connection, crowd them into a too small block, and less off street car parking places. Two off street car parking places per dwelling is the development rule. One "social" housing development, one parking place per FOUR dwelling.

"Save the 'planit' from 'carbon'"

"15 minute cities"

"You will own nothing and be happy."

Well I plan to still be driving in freedom my big diesel Landcruiser, if not a newer one.

Mine is even better, two big batteries in the engine bay, at least one big battery in the back.

My "new" hunting vehicle and farm ute. I purchased my father's 1985 or 1989 Mitsubishi Triton 4WD ute.

New! Feels like it to me.

2.6 L, 4 cylinder petrol.

Seen here parked behind where I was stationed as a blocker at a recent fox cull drive.

It's cool to finally have a ute.

I've still got the 1990 Series 80 Landcruiser.
