Swarovski 1.5 x 4.5 x 20mm

I've made the leap up to a Swarovski scope for my DR. It's a Habicht A rifle scope 1.5 x 4.5 20mm Nova. I don't know much about this scope and am hoping that some of you might have an opinion or perhaps somebody may even own this scope and can tell me a bit more about it. Thanks, Christopher

That is an excellent scope. Although I have not owned that specific model, I have several Swarovski scopes and find them second to none.

What rifle will you put this on, and by what mounting system?

Here's one of my .375 H&H doubles with a 1.5-6 Swarovski scope in claw mounts.

I have the 1.5x4.5 30mm and it's the brightest scope I've seen. The Leupold 2x7 is almost as bright.

Thanks guys. Curl, what a beautiful set-up, I love your rifle! bonanza, where's your pic? I have not purchased scope mounts yet. I've been told that a "quick-release" mount may possibly be the best way to go (Weaver?) Any opinions out there?

Curl, I know it has been awhile since you posted this but I was wondering how the balance works for you with that scope? I have a 9.3 with a 1.75x6 Zeiss rail mount and it is extremely heavy and unbalanced. I have been thinking of switching it to a straight 2x for better handling.

Which brand and model of 2x were you thinking of Mick?

Quality 2x (2 1/2x and 3x) scopes seem to have disappeared off the catalogues! Except Leupold for a 2 1/2x.

A 42 mm objective is indeed unwieldy on a double rifle designed for fast shooting. In my country, drive hunting with hounds and beaters is the most popular hunting mode. All shots are taken offhand at running game, so rifle balance is paramount. Here's my FN-Browning CCS 25 o/u in 9,3x74R + Swaro 1,25-4x24 in claw mounts, an ideal combo in my experience.

Mine is on a bolt rifle with Leopold QD mounts.
