So it is a real photo? Must be unusual to have so many mature bucks all together?

What's the species? Mule deer?

(I know I am hopeless on NA deer species!)

Yes--they are mule deer...

The first time I saw it -the photo was in a "Kings Outdoor World Callendar"...

Mule deer bucks will hang together in the summer --however as fall approaches and the rut enters..the testosterone increases..and they become MUCH less tolerant of one another..

In todays world..it would be very uncommon to see that quality of bucks together..I am guessing they just put together a group of really large bucks from the past and put them together in a photo...again, just guessing...

Bucks hanging together is the same as fallow. I wonder if this behaviour is common of all deer?

Probably not Sambar? What do you say Gryph?

I'm guessing not chital as well. (?} As they seem to be in herds all the time.

Probably not hog deer or other more solitary species. But I don't know.

As you would know, the word safari means a "journey", and your photos show a hunt is a journey, not just the inches of the trophy at the end.

Lovely photos. Grand Canyon?
