I wrote this several years ago with the help of Daryl.

Just thought it was time to share again.

Great way to use up hard scrap lead.

It works very well indeed, in my .14 bore rifle, Gordon. Bruce carried this further, in experimentation with small bores, with success, down to .54, I think.
Bob uses them in his 10 bore, while Dan uses them in his 16 bore rifle.
We all found the same thing, identical accuracy to patched balls & multiple shots before needing to wipe the bore.

I make paper cartridges for a Bess and a Potzdam, the paper acts as a sabot and the accuracy is quite surprising. I also make the Pat 1858 enfield paper cartridge which I use a 530 grain pritchett bullet, these you can shoot all day and not have your rifle foul.
I am not surprised that this tapered cartridge works in a rifle, of larger bore as I guess by the looks the paper acts once again as a sabot. Save mucking about with flask and loose ball etc. Will post my results in due course.

I found these paper ctgs. solved a very real problem with the special weapon's moose hunt here in B.C. some years back.
Oft times, the temperature would be -30 to -45 - most patch lubes are stiff/hard in those temperatures, so finding one that would work,
was difficult.
The paper ctgs. solved that problem and I found I could shoot up to 10 without accuracy falling off nor loading getting difficult.
I found the size needed, is a snug fit in the rifling, requiring a choked up rod to get them started. After that, down they went, quite easily.
I used no lube on them, but others have.
