Bedford Penn style 40 cal Rifle for sale

Hello all.
I got a set of parts to make a Bedford style rifle in a trade a while ago, so I am just now doing the finish work on the rifle.
It has a curly maple stock, a 13/16" Green Mountain 40 cal barrel and an L&R Bedford Percussion lock. It has GS cheek piece oval, executions and some GS ovals inlaid into the bevertails behind the lock. I put the stain on it today I expect to have it 100% finished and engraved in about a week.
I will zero it in at 50 yards when I am finished with it.
It is for sale. I will ask $2,000.
I hope to ad pictures to this post when it's finished.

I will take some in the next week.
I just put the 1st coat of stock sealer on it about 20 minutes ago.

I have to engrave the brass and silver and brown the barrel and trigger bar too. I expect to have the browning done tomorrow and the stock finish and engraving should be done inside the next week.

Ha! I might want one now. But can't probably PAY for one now! I think .40 cal is too small though.

I also have a 12 bore about half done. It's in Rigby style, right handed with a 28" barrel.
Would that be more to your liking?

OOOOOOOOOOOO-donuts!

A .40 is a squirrel rifle in this country - yeah- big squirrels - actually they are small.
A .40 would do for quite smallish deer, gone-wild domestic goats, that sort of thing.
A 12 bore would do for everything in Australia and anywhere else, loaded correctly.
This is just my opinion, which is correct, of course.

I agree also.
Around here 40s are used for varmints and small game. It is legal for deer and antelope, but I recommend at least a 45.

A 12 bore is enough gun for anything anywhere if a hard ball is used.

I have lusted for a 40 cal. Bedford for a couple decades. Absolutely lovely rifle, Steve. I guess I need to start lusting for an extra 2K.....

That's more than generous of you, thank you! Right now, with what we have to spend to get some rentals back in shape, I fear my financial advisor might recommend having me neutered. I'm not afraid of but two things, God Almighty and my wife....she's a retired beautician and I've seen what she can do with a straight razor...and I have to sleep sometime....
