I don't know any prices, but here are a few:
Granite Mountain Arms
Olympic Arms(?)
Empire Rifles
Montana Rifleman should be tooling up soon for a magnum mauser action.

These aren't exactly new actions, but new-ish.

Assuming you want control round feed, Winchester is making their updated pre64 model again. Just buy one in 375 H&H and have it rebarreled, magazine modified, and blue printed.

Ruger has also updated their Safari Magnum, which is available in 416 Rigby and 458 Lott. It also comes with a very very nice piece of wood. Ditto: just rebarrel, magazine modifications, and blueprint it.

CZ is making the big Mauser action, the model CZ550. I have one in 416 Rigby and I am very happy with it. This action is long enough for the Gibbs, too. However, it does have the hogback stock on it, and some folks don't like its appearance.

The nice thing of using these approaches is that you could choose a custom barrel, and since the rifle is blueprinted and you would assured of it shooting quite well.

Olympia does make a very nice action, but it is very expensive. I haven't priced one in a few years, but I found that I could buy any of the three rifles above, have them blueprinted and rebarreled in 416 Rigby and top it with a Leupold VX-III with Warne Rings for about the same price as the action alone.

Or you could go with some of the full custom actions that various gunsmiths make which have extablished a name for themselves. I know of several, but I don't know if they specialize in DGR. I do believe Dakota makes several DGRs and they do have a fine reputation. Searcy is another. Both have websites, if you want to inquire.

BTW, keep in mind the Gibbs is a 0.505 bore and the 0.510 bore is very common today. Thus, bullets are harder to find in the 505 caliber. You might opt to have the 505 Gibbs made into a 510 Gibbs. Clearly, you can't buy off the shelf ammo for it, but you could use the load data directly and work up. Since the exapansion ratio is higher, you might get a bit more velocity for a given bullet weight, too.

I recantly had a P14 action made into a 505 Gibbs. The action and barrel work was done by a gentleman in Northern Bc and the stock and finishing work by a gunsmith in Burns Lake.

I am very Happy with the work and if you email me, I can send you a couple of photos of the finished product.

The P14/17action is one of the few actions that can be made into the big 505 Gibbs. However you may wish to have a action remade into 500 Jeffery, which is somewhat more managable, and just as potent.

heres what i have found out so far ,from dedicated perusal of the internet.Dumoulin $3884.00 aus dollars imp 98 action
german golmatic$5146.00 a true 98 action
wif hein$2704.00round action 98,m70 hybrid
$3259.00standard square bridge
$3467.00 machined square brdige
this is all australian dollars ,other alternatives are p14 $200 and up, cz new $1200.00 for a complete new rifle to use , or try to find a brevex ,about 5 to 6000 aus dollars ,on a existing rifle . i think Montana ph action is investment cast, which i dont like ,i prefer a machined action, but of course are more expensive .the german Golmatic is the one i like best ,with original Mauser 98 bolt shroud and looks the way a true big game bolt should look like ,the model 70type bolt shroud just doesnt look right to me,my opinion.i think Golmatic is what Rigby use for their BGR.

KOS, the P14 is big enough to be customised into a 505 Gibbs. Just make sure that the gunsmith knows what he is doing!!

Brian Harre makes several actions which might suit you. From US$2100 to US$3300. Including a choice of integral bottom rings machined from the same piece of steel as the action and also a takedown model. Another model has an integral extended tangs around the top and bottom of the pistol grip to the pistol grip cap.

Contact details are:

Johansen uses Prechtl golmatic actions. These are the best in the business.

G'Day Fella's,

I have noticed the Mauser ads in the Safari Club Int'l magazine (page 202 of current mag), has a small image of what appears to be a New, In The White, 1898 Mauser, Double Square action!

Hope that helps

Both Johannsen and Mauser get their actions from Prechtl, so there are no real options here.

Actually, FZH also makes actions. Very good, in fact.

The Prechtl golmatic action uses better metal, and is the better product. That being said, FZH is also excellent and the metal is as good as anything produced the last 150 years, so you have to ask yourself if you would ever need anything better.

Although the below link to Accurate Reloading is about the upcoming Corbon action, a few of us have thrown in Satterlee photos.

http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7971019521/m/1351022071

Go to the Satterlee web site and take a look, you will be pleased. satterleearms.com

I think the upcoming Corbon action will be OK, but it has a few design items I do not like.

Paul,

Theo Jung and Dirk Brinkmann designed the FZH actions from what I know, and virtually any configuration you want is available from them. As an aside (the experts would know better than I do what the advantages - real and perceived may be to this) they claim to follow the hardening routine that was originally used by Mauser and DWM in hardening different parts of the action to different degrees in order to make them work more smoothly.

Stuart Satterlee's website has been dead for a while - no idea what is happening with his business. He did seem to have problems as a long argument with him on AR some time ago seemed to suggest.

Good hunting, my friend!
