Mauser 98 Square bridge with big caliber barrel.

This looks like a good donor action if someone need a big caliber (.60") Mauser. Any idea who´s the maker ? There is more photos linked below.

There is some very skilled gunsmiths in Sweden. This custom Husqvarna is one nice example made by one of them:

Caliber 60 ?

Is that sure ?

Some things don't fit together when I look at the various pieces, but I could be wrong.

From Memory Heym at one stage made a Bolt Action Rifle to suit the 600 Jeffery.

I once held such a thing in my hands. It looked more like a musket from the 17th century than a suitable big bore rifle for big game hunting.

That's why the action and the barrel pictured above seems a little thin and small to me, but it could be an optical illusion.

yep,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jRzN1nFaps

iirc, they don't made it anymore. was very big and heavy, maybe to deal with the recoil.
problem was price was very similar to a double rifle so not a good deal.
if they would made a bolt action single shot in 600 NE, plain basic like a working rifle for a good price people would buy it just for the fun factor.

Lancaster,

That is an interesting video. I didn't know trhat a 600NE bolt gun exists. He was single loading the rifle. Was is a magazine rifle? Do you know what the list price had been when Heym made that rifle?

had a magazine http://up.picr.de/28684489sa.pdf can't find it how much rounds, maybe 3 single row

price in the 1990s was around 10000 german mark, probably the same in euro when they stop production.

The article by Hans Heigel describes the rifle caliber 600 Nitro Express well and in particular its clear disadvantages. With such a rifle you have no advantage in terms of backup compared to a much more manageable rifle of a smaller big bore caliber.

I knew the author Hans Heigel well. Unfortunately he died too early a few years ago.
