That sure looks like a solid sided double square bridge to me. Full octagon barrel with integral rib. As the seller says, a nice candidate for a rebore/rechamber to 9.3X62.

It was a double square bridge, but rear bridge is removed and it looks to me like half octgonal to round barrel.

Pity the scope mounts is gone.

Ah, Gen Hicks, you caught me. The description says "Laufkontur von eckig auf rund." (Barrel contour changes from angular to round). However, in my mind a double square bridge remains one, no matter if the rear bridge is mutilated or ground off. Also, as far as I know, there are no solid left wall single square bridge actions.

The reason I didn't notice the alteration to the rear bridge is that I have a double square bridge Oberndorf Mauser with a Suhler Einhakmontage and the rear foot is dovetailed into the square bridge without otherwise changing it.

Hello,

I don't see the rear bridge was altered. It seems original to me. By the way, DORLEAC have showed recentley a .404 J made with an Original Sporting Mauser action like this 8x60 S: single FRONT square bridge!
Mr. DORLEAC said it was very rare but entirely original.

Best wishes and Happy Christmas!!

PH

I'm having trouble posting photos for some reason but I will attempt to describe the arrangement.
The rear base of the mount has a male dovetail extending from front to rear, and the square bridge has a corresponding female dovetail cut in it to receive the male dovetail. This eliminates the need for any attaching screws and lowers the base as far as possible.
