Mauser rifles at auctions
      #222536 - 30/12/12 07:04 AM

instead of open a new thread every time I think we could use this in the future to make the members aware of original mausers in aution wherever it is

Zivilmauser 98er , Kaliber 9,3x62
length 111cm, barrel 60cm
original a 9,3x57, rechambered to 9,3x62 in the 1980s and new proof
pistol grip cap is missing, 98% blueing
the stock behind the cheek piece have a hole 50x30x2mm probably for some kind of badge and a break on the barrel
http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=4177805

serial number looks like 83848

damn shame, the 9.3x57 is a rare chambering.
What happened to the charger guide?

Looks like it once had a scope mount on the action and has had the holes filled in. That is the only reason for a rear bridge to be modified that I can think of.

Not in auction but interesting and IMO cheap anyway (3900 SEK = 600 USD):

I think lancaster has thought up a truly sick thread. One to make us non-European based members truly green and sick with the show-casted Mausers at auction.

I´ll be sure they send some if you ask. The sights looks correct and barrel seems to be octagonal ro round. Stock could have some issues...

Looks like the stock is Characteristic Mauser checkering from a distance. I don't see anything incorrect from this one photo.

Here is one (IMO quite funny) 10,75x68 Ceco Mauser in Sweden.

http://www.blocket.se/vasternorrland/Diverse_ovanligare_jaktgevar_44647633.htm?ca=3&w=3

"Mauser 98, kaliber 10,75x68
Pris: 1500 SEK"

Mauser 98, Caliber 10.75x68
Undrilled frame. Frame has form of punshing to reduce glare.
If peeks what stamps says it is including the following:
10.3 mm - bullet diameter
9.27 - probably in September 1927
St.m.G - steeljacket bullet (pressure tested with)
23gr - bullet weight (pressure tested with)
Think it is a converted army rifle from Geco, I´m not sure.
The barrel seems to be a redrilled original.
The sights are from Gew.98
The stock has one repairing.
Price: 1500 SEK (= ~230 US$)

Now THAT last one's a decent price. Here, 9x57 and 9.3x62 Mauser M98 commercial rifles run $275.00 to $400.00 depending on condition.

one of the most strange looking mauser rifles I have ever seen with the lange Visier. looks more like a bubba job to me. I wonder about the barrel thickness on the muzzle when this was an original 8 mm barrel rebored to 10,75mm.

a rare post war 1956 made .425NE by westley richards
http://www.champlinarms.com/Default.aspx...&GunID=2262

a very basic PH rifle compared with the best made 425 mauser rifles by WR. overpriced with 8900 $... I would say not more than 4900$ but anyone as he like. wonder if this have the common double row magazin without the original clips.

Westley Richards & Co. London: A Westley Richards PH Model 425 Westley Richards Magnum Bolt Rifle Made About 1956 on a FN Commercial Mauser Action, The action never drilled or tapped, Mauser trigger, Extended deep magazine box with an outside button release for the floorplate, A 26" barrel with an island sight with 1 fixed standing blade, Island front sight with a sight protector, Proved at 18.5 tons, Forend tiedown with a barrel lug, Open sight sporter stock, Wrap around point pattern checkering, No cheekpiece, 13 7/8" LOP over a 7/8" Silvers pad, 9 Lbs. 6 oz., A steel inset and inletted crossbolt at the front recoil lug that doesn't show on the outside, This piece with original blue that still remains at 82-84%, The stock has been oiled but I don't believe sanded & it remains 92%, The checkering at 95%, The bore is very good plus with sharp rifling the entire way. This cartridge is a serious big game cartridge using a 410 grain bullet. This piece comes with loading dies, cases and plenty of bullets.

Regarding the first posting of the model b in 9.3X62 with full octagon barrel-notice that there is not a serial number on the barrel-I have one similar in 9X57 with no serial number on the barrel but is inscribed with the customary "Waffenfabrik Mauser" on the barrel rib. Caliber stamping on top of the barrel in front of the ring. Anyone else have one similar without the serial number on the barrel? Speed's book has it seems only a few pictures of full octagon barrels and they do seem to have the serial number on the barrel.

Nice find Shamus. Priced very well ( for my checkbook ) for a model A.
Refinished or not (I prefer the look of casper50's 404) I like it.
