Can folks run me through the Oberndorf Sporting rifle types?
      #221218 - 09/12/12 11:31 AM

Could I trouble those knowledgeable to run me through what the different Oberndorf Sporting "Types" refer to features / production wise, such as the Type A, B, and C?

Would appreciate a summary.

Angus

Get the book "Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles" by Jon Speed, Walter Schmid and Reiner Herrmann. I think you are asking for alot of data and it would be easier to read the book.

The book runs $400 to $2,400, this is a very simple question and I feel that would be a significant expenditure for the little information and background I'm after. It would be akin to buying a whole car to find out what engine oil it uses.

If you're not looking for authoritative information on the rarest types, the Mauser website has a decent listing of the various basic rifle designs.

Good hunting!

Ardent,

Do a search here or a Google search for "Original Oberndorf M98 Sporter Variations by Jon Speed "

NITROx posted the article on 17/06/11 here on NE forum, its six page condensed version of Mr Speeds book with photos, action length and serial numbers. It was originally written in Man Magnum Feb 1998.

Hope this helps,

Bob
