price for a original schüler rifle in 12,7x70/500 jefferys

got a call from a friend because he will be visit from the widow of a belgian PH tommorow. she offered him one of the original August Schüler rifle's in 12,7x70/500 jefferys her husband had have in the belgisch congo. what he knows it have a belgian address on the barrel, probably "Janssen a Bruxelles" and a 3 shot magazin(???).
asking price is 5000 euro

what have you seen such rifle's going in the past?

How many have been sold recently in the past ?
One of those type of guns that doens't come on the market much.

All I can say is if it is an original,
more than what you have quoted.



Genuine questions
Why would it have a Belgian Address on the barrel ?

And what does "Janssen a Bruxelles" mean ?

what he knows only the butt plate isnt original anymore but this is an easy problem

Janssen was the agent for Schüler rifles in belgium and you find this name regulary on old congo veterans.

I think its to late, talk with him on the phone 5 hours ago and he had the rifle in his hands asking me if this is the real deal.
think he was willing to buy it just need another one tell him he does right. if so I get pics on monday...
everything sounds right and this is indeed a August Schüler Model Jumbo in 12,7x70 sold from Janssen in Brussels.

ok, the jumbo rifle got a name

the last owner was the belgian PH Willy Blome here on the right side

unfortunately its not my rifle now but Walter told me I have the preemtive right if he sell it.
I contact harald wolf because he was the man knowing anything about this rifle and the story would become more interesting again:

the rifle was in the possession of Willy Blomme since the 90s and Willy was changing the butt plate and the german trigger to make it more useful for his needs as an PH. Willy get an rare but very dangerous disease in central africa that making him a physical wreck so the rifle was not coming back to business.

Willy had have a knack for interesting rifles because he bought also the old 577 NE from Hans Otto Meisner in central africa.





now to the question of the original owner of the Jumbo rifle: it was Adrian de Schryver who was poisened in 1989 in the congo. the rifle was pictured in Hatari Times no.5 with the original double set trigger.



Adrian de Schryver was the Conservator of all national parks in the belgisch congo and was staying there after the end of the old times.

Heres a bad question for someone ,how hard or expensive would it be to replicate the Schuler magazine ? and another did they feed well ? as compared to the English Jefferys which i read didnt feed reliably

Someone replicated one of them here.


Who said the English one's didn't feed ?

Never heard that and that is from people who owned one.
