If you are asking about original Mauser sporting rifles and not humped up ex-military then the answer is very few were made in 6.5 Swede. It was never a Mauser cataloged option and was done on a special order only basis.

Neat rifle!

You always find interesting guns.

Now that you've got it, some poor Jon Jonsson is without his älg slayer.

I bet we'll see some pix of it next to some wide-horned ole mean buff soon, eh??

I hope so!

Use the 6.5x55 with good bullets and you'll wonder why you need most all your rifles... It is a favorite caliber of mine.

Certainly appears to be an original 1931 Type B Oberndorf sporter. Trigger and scope are later additions. Rare piece.

Don´t believe that it is an Original Oberndorf in 6,5x55 .
Action , sight parts and stock are certainly Type B (following serial number produced 1932)

The barrel shank is untypical long for an Oberndorf barrel.

A close up pic of the number on the barrel shank will reveal , that it has been rebarrelled to 6,5x55.

I would suggest it has formerly been a 8x60 or 9x57 , because the configuration of the rear sight base in that thicker diameter was most often used in that calibers.

Anyway a nice rifle.

No flies on a 6.5x55. Mine made 2,960fps with 129gr. Hornady's and 2,850fps with 140's - from a 22" bl. using Reloader #19 powder.

went for an afternoon hunt sighted a few buffs, but only took a shot at this one first shot behind the ear second one in the crown at close range to finish him off. I was using winchester factory ammunition and was guided onto the buff by joey buckerfield who has just started a new proffessional hunting outfit.

Pato that is a good start for an old rifle. Unfortunately we have restrictive gun laws but I think it would look good to have the horns mounted and the rifle hanging below them. Well done

Amazing what an accurately placed bullet or two can do for you. Winchester - must have been 140gr. Power Points - probably 2,400fps - maybe.
