Patagon Hunter, you're right it probably looks a bit naked without irons but I can't hit the side of a barn with them so I left them off lol.
Rglenz, yep 140gn @ 2750 fps seems to kill very well even on Sambar, plus I like to look after that old 1908 action with moderate loads!

Darwin, I machined the bases then silver brazed the Leupold QD rings (the ones with posts) into holes drilled in line with the bore.

Thanks for that mate , I'm thoughting about mounting a scope on my 7x57 at the moment, the eyes are getting to old for open sights, so yep the Leupold scope mounts are being considered.
