Thought I would post a couple pictures of a 425WR I recently picked up.
Drop magazine and 28" barrel and all...
I have also picked up some brass and bullets so hopefully I will be in business on this one soon.
More photos and info to come.

Very nice indeed.

Looks in superb condition.

Refinished or original (not that it worries me).

Very nice find, indeed! The .425 WR is a very cool cartridge; very odd-looking, but cool nonetheless!

Sporty!
Congrats.

Can you get some more images for us, detailing the little touches that make it so cool?

Details of the box and the sights (front and rear) would be a good start...

Cheers

That type of rifle including the 5+1 drop box but with a 26" barrel would be awesome.
Have you fired it yet?

Still haven't fired it yet.
Been very busy with work and then got sicker than hell for a month or so.

I did get ahold of about 300 original LT cap round nose bullets and 50 original LT pointed bullets in the original Kynoch box which are very cool.

Well, I finally got around to shooting the 425!
Quite a stout recoil. I guess the steel butt plate isn't the recoil absorbant material most modern shooters are looking for.
I was cautioned against loading HDS brass and can see why. One had a rupture down near the base and was very difficult to open the bolt on. A little scary really (even moreso since I wasn't the one shooting it at the time) but the BELL brass seemed to perform just fine - so I guess I have some bullets to pull...
No test for load or accuracy - just fun shooting!
No pictures of it in action, but I did snap a few more recently.

Here you can see the clips which Westley Richards added to keep the top shell centered. Must work because it cycles perfectly. There are also bolsters on each side of the rear ring of the action to house the clips. These must be soldered onto the action.

This picture shows the horn tip to the magazine.
The magazine on this rifle is machined as a single piece. I have another, earlier magazine which is interesting because it utilizes the standard floorplate from the military type action from which it was built. The floorplate is then attached to the bottom of the extended magazine. If anyone wants to replicate the W.R. drop mag., that would be the easier of the two versions to make.

Huvius, what a wondeful piece of shooting history. Do you know what year it was made?

Looks to be in excellent condition.

Good hunting, Chris

Pretty sure it is from 1924 but I will look it up again.
