More treasures from Don S - Pair of Mannlicher Schonauers
      #89339 - 20/11/07 10:17 AM

After the superb Mauser pics, some Mannlicher Schonauer pictures from Don S's collection. What I know is that one is a 1903 in 6.5x54 and the other is a 1908 in 8x56. Don should give more details shortly.

Thanks, Don, and good hunting everyone!

Top rifle is the M1903 in 6.5x54MS. Built in 1920, it has a 4X Kahles scope with "Vienna" mounts. Bottom rifle is a M1908 in 8x56MS. Built in 1928, it has a 4X Oigee scope with mounts numbered to gun.

Just superb! Love the MS, best small-bore rifle ever invented.

It's nice to see the scoped originals in unaltered condition. I wince every time I see an American mounted scope on a Mannlicher Schoenauer.

Thanks Don (..and Mehul!)

Thanks Mehul and Don.

There is something so simple and efficient and useful-looking about M-S rifles. These two are a pair of peaches!

Gentlemen,

I'm always glad to post pictures for members who want me to - my own work is insignificant. Don S is to be thanked for sharing pictures of his rifles.

Yes, these are incredible treasures, indeed!

Good hunting, everyone!

Those are some cuties!! Thanks for snaping them sidexside that allowed me to see the slight differences which I've noticed but never been able to articulate. Likewise with the scope mounts, I've seen both (and others- laws should be written to prevent Americans from mounting scopes on M/Ss!! Although I've heard of and always wanted to see a fully gussied-up G&H M/S..!) but seeing each type on the same page was beneficial.
Keep em coming, Don S and Mehul, and when I escape from my current sentence, I'll try to return the favor!

Beautiful, wonderful & every other superlative I can think of! I wish my 1903's had the double set triggers & the great mounts!

Does anyone know where I could get a couple of set triggers?

Congratulations to Don S & thatnks to Mehul for the pics!

A long time ago I had the pleasure of handling a very old M-S in 6.5x54 and true to legend, with the bolt open, you could tip the muzzle towards the ground and the bolt would slide home on an empty chamber and close without assistance. The sign of an outstanding work of firearm art. These two are more examples.

I agree & will one day have a M/S in my safe as well, they are a fantastic little rifle. Thanks again Don for sharing with us. When I open up the site each day the first posts I look at are the ones that have Don S in the title.
