It’s one of the finest sporting outings a shooter can enjoy. Paul Childerley goes walked-up ptarmigan shooting over setters in Swedish Lapland. The birds are beautiful, the other wildlife amazing, the scenery is wild and the nearest beer is two days’ walk, which is why you need a helicopter to get in and out of this country.

Nice - a bit larger than the ptarmigan I shot on Hudson's Bay Mountain when I lived in Smithers.
I used a .22 rifle & just head shot them on the ground. Not nearly as dense as this open-land hunting.
They are good eating.
