Hey All,

how about building a thread with some pistol pictures? I've talked to a couple of members and they have a bunch of fine pistols. I'm sure there is a truckload of interesting pistols owned by our members. Anythng goes.... Trash to treasure My collection is helter skelter at best. :^)

Ripp,

I have a Kimber Classic Gold Match in a Mitch Rosen USD holster inside my belt right now. It's a wonderful gun! Very accurate, and I've shot many tens of thousands of rounds and it's still tight. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours.

I switched to 185 gr Remington Golden Sabre +P ammo because I believe I'm more likely to be attacked by a rabid animal than a person. I think the light, fast hollow point bullet will be more incapacitating on a relatively small animal.

My brother and I discussed this at some length about two weeks ago. He was attacked and bitten by a rabid fox yesterday. As a forester for the DOD, he's in the woods all day, all week. Of course, they're taking good care of him, and he'll be okay. Terrible coincidence though.

Take care, Tom

Tatume,

That is very good too hear...I looked for quite a while before making the purchase..it seemed whomever I visited with had a different opinion than the one I asked before..I was looking at Sig, Smith and Wesson and the Kimbers...

I actually picked up a box of the Remington loads as well along with some cheaper Winchester loads to break it in...

Have a Colt Gold Cup as well--but it is new and in the box..can't get myself too shoot it...not really sure why....

Thanks for the info

Small carry guns are fascinating--

To have a small effective gun has been sought after forever--

What guns do other members like?? Why??

I would provide pictures but my child out of state has my camera at the moment- Hopefully I can try some pictures later

Personally I divide carry into a few levels according to clothing available.Others may say same gun always and adapt the clothes but that doesn't seem to work for me--way to obvious that a gun is present and not concealed adequately--

I never carry the small NAA 22 revolver. It may work for others but not me--cause I can't deploy/shoot it satisfactorily at speed. My hands are too big.

The smallest carry would be the 9 oz Ruger LCP, rear pocket size for sure.Next would be a ?12 ounce 38 snub with a Barami grip, tyler adapter for an inside the belt setup for shorts/tee shirt, etc.On/off quickly to a secure place and no one can tell you carry.

Above that would be an 18 oz Kahr 9mm/40 micro IWB, then a Glock 36 carried IWB. Past that, its on the belt or in the holster or whatever floats your boat.I do like 1911's with a "clip it" carry carried IWB sans holster in jeans with a light cover garment in the fall/winter.Plenty enough gun, long sight radius for more accuracy at distance, and no telltale holster to give away the fact you carry if the gun is off you and you are wearing no overgarment.Disadvantage?? The weight will be about 26 ounces and heavier pulling your belt down.

What small carry gun floats your boat??

Start carrying your favorites around all day concealed and see what you prefer!!

Hoppdoc,

I'm just pistol crazy and enjoy carrying different ones. I don't expect to be in the middle of the miami massarcre each day so I can be content with the little naa 22 on certain days. But by the same token, some days I pack this 45.

I can usually have a pistol close by and not have to wear it. probably one of my favorite and most practical pistols is this old four inch woodsman.

However the little tph in 22 has become very handy. It's stainless, shoots great, doubleaction and extremely safe to carry with one in the chamber.

I bobbed the hammer on the little derringer and ran it out to 357 so I could use shot shells. It's a great snake gun.
I love my pimp gun, the grips are real mop and came off an early S&W but fit close enough

but the airweight 37 is better to carry.

All three are great pocket guns.

In my opinion the very best compromise in size and effective output, coupled with absolute reliability, was achieved many years ago. Sure the Germans were known for their pocket pistols, but the very best of its kind was made in the U.S. It's the Remington Model 51 in .380ACP. Really an incredible design. The most innovative lockup allows for a small, flat, light pistol. The ergonomics are just perfect. If you ever pick one up and shoot it you will agree with what I have said here.

When in the Mounted Police, I never went anywhere, on duty or off, without my 4" M29. It felt good to have something on my hip to argue with.

Great guns Curl!!

I prefer several smaller handguns due to the oppressive southern heat and the light clothes worn in the summer. Just can't seem to carry the big stuff as "hidden" as I like--

A few sometimes sweaty "southern" carry guns with bigger stuff--

The Kahr micro 40 is a great carry gun but a handful to shoot. The Glock 36 is great-super slim, points like your finger while the Browning HI Power 40 is a very accurate modified gun with a 1911 like trigger, great grips, and a modified hammer to go easy on your parts.

FUN CARRY GUNS!!

Curl,
Is every gun you own in such wonderful condition?  Dad loves the 51 and had one for years.  He told me when they were advertised Remington said it fits you hand like that of a friend.

Daryl,
Be a bad problem that a 29 won't cure :^)

Hoppdoc,
I love your highpower.  Probably my favorite big auto.  I changed the grips on mine, bent the trigger back(small hands) stippled the front strap and set the clip up for one more shell.

Dad's came with clear grips that had a picture of a lady underneath them and the shoulder stock.  He made some narrow grips for carry but never does. :^)

Wow!!

Love that Hi Power!!

Once you fix their basic issues of trigger, grip, and hammer(thats alot), they are like fine wine to me--too bad they couldn't have been made that way!!

Dale,

I just got another Rem 51. Shot it today. Perfect performance from an 85 year old pistol.

I realize with you I'm preaching to the choir but I believe the 51 is one of the great sleepers in pistols right now.

My tastes are pretty simple.

A quality Colt Python always impresses me along with other early colts and colt six shooters.

Problem is they always cost too much to acquire just to look at and preserve their value!! I want something I can shoot!!

Yes the Rem 51 and the Browning 1910 share similarities. The Browning is a straight blow-back action while the Rem uses a unique locking system of Pedersen design.

The Remingtons number only about 65,000. I'm sure the Browning is far more common.

Here is an interesting article about the Rem 51. Interestingly, it ends in a comparison of the Rem 51 and the Browning 1910.

http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/Rem51/rem51.html

Interesting weapons. I'm glad we have the freedom to own and use them.

I have a weakness for handguns as well,here are a couple 25's

This is the 1908 25 with the box.

Also like the prewar and war time Walthers, here is a Waffen proofed, late war PP

here is a real nice early PPK 90 degree safety and no loaded indicator.

Lugers are nice too, when you can find them, here is a 1939 S42 all matching including mag.

and here is a CZ27,waffen proofed

I will stop now,but see if I can come up with some of the revolver I have.Real neat Remingtons Capt Curl, and I love that tangent site Hi Power Dale (do you have Vanderlindens book?).I just picked up Kimber, CDP Pro II,can't wait to break it in.
best,
Dave
