Yeah - fat bodied Rainbow rout - lovely. What a blast.
Good find, Ripp. Some of those looked to be close to 15 pounds.

Superb scenery and some ripper fish. Ever since watching the "Trout Bum Diaries" I have wanted to go to Argentina, beautiful place with superb food. Thanks for posting.

I went to Argentina a couple years back..was a very nice place..really nice people.. scenery.. good fishing... and lots and lots of doves to shoot...thousands in fact..went through 22 box's of shotgun shells in one half day of shooting..maybe not that much but was a lot to me...

Just re-watched the video. You'd want at least a 7 wgt. for the lakes and a 9 would not be too big for those huge bows, in the rivers.
That gets the old heart muscle pumping.

At the time of the video Katherine Hart was 62, if you see the big wave hit her. She is quite a woman! I am very impressed with her.

Missed this video first time through.

Hope you have a FANTASTIC time, bstrick. I am jealous.

WOW - nice! Good choice as well on the double hander. Nasty wind. That got me pumped! Aerobatics are quite spectacular, but unless you bow to the fish when they are in the air, they can and will spit the hook.

My 15' Orvis & 15' Sage 11 & 10 weights would be perfect for this fishing, but the 13/6 10weight Dragonfly would also work well. It's quite a good casting rod.

I've caught rainbows EXACTLY like those in the video, but here, we call them steelhead and catch them in the Kitimat and Skeena systems near the West Coast of BC.

Just got back, if I could get a picture to post from my google shared photos, I would show you a 11 Kilo rainbow. [24 pounds].
Many fish caught. Temps were a bit cold, so fishing was slow. I caught 75-80 fish 8-15#. one 18# male. Lost several BIG wild fish that did not want to be netted.
Got broke off on 15# tippet and went to 20#.
Super nice people! Guides and staff.

Great to hear it went well. 24 pounds was my best "steelie".
That's a LOT of fish caught/hooked.
That's a BIG fish. So deep!
The link works now.

Got time for a story?

Another fish is burning into the backing [100 foot line] heading across the lake.

I start giving it some brake.........and.........now it has reversed direction and is charging me!

As I frantically make huge strips, look for rocks and run out of the water, I hear the Guides laughing!

Now the fish cuts to the left......does a 180 and passes in front of me, while speeding off to the right!

I don't remember if I landed it or not, but what a fight!

Several big and medium sized fish were lost, just because they refused to be netted.

Crazy Ass Wild fish......some of them!

And,

Did I tell you about the food?

5 STARS

We ate WELL!

Sounds just great, Bruce. Fights like that are nor a normal 'thing' in NA, except for some steelies.

We do have a lake up here that used to produce up to 13 pound bows, but not any more.

What a trip indeed. I've sent some notes to guys in my group along with your pictures and the internet link above, asking if they are interested in this 'jaunt'.

Kinda gets the blood pounding, it does.
