2007 Prize to 400 Nitro Express

This has been building but was just highlighted by the posts on building a DR on a CZ action.

Sitting back quietly over the last couple of years,
I think it is appropriate that the 2007 forum prize goes to
400 Nitro Express for:-

1. The huge level of knowledge provided to this forum from one of the most well read people I know.

2. The way he uses this knowledge to dispel Myths, Rumours and Inuendo but most importantly of all, the BullShit, especially the regurgitated BullShit that sometimes gets posted that is just rehashed crap read from other forums with no reference to the books and references that 400 and others (Marrakai, myself) refer to.

400, top stuff, I love reading your posts - especially when you cut through the crap.

Thanks for an enjoyable year !

I'll agree the 400NE is knowledgeable on DR and quite articulate, however I think it's time he ponies up his credentials.

I don't mean that in a challenging way. But Al Gore had to "prove" his environmental creds to win an Emmy, Oscer and the Nobel.

What's your angle mister; who are you: a gun dealer, a gun builder. Are you George Caswell?

Good recommendations in any subject are hard to come by!!
When you discuss firearms opinions are variable to say the least. In Double rifles few would be expected to have expertise. Double rifles are indeed "rare air" in the firearm world.

Yup, we are lucky,there are some mighty sharp folks re:Doubles on this website!

I enjoy their all their thoughts.

400 NE posts seem to be right on the money.You don't have to have official credentials to be an authority on something-you have to have motivation,knowledge, insight, and good judgement--

400 NE qualifies in my book!!

I agree! Having had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with him, I found he is a true gentleman and has knowledge of the subject far surpassing anyone I have met. Just the information he can recall is more extensive than most of our personal gun libraries. He has helped me with many aspects of this sport.

His creds are essentially like Marrakai's, mine and plenty of others on here (except a damn sight higher than mine !!!) - we study, read, evaluate, read, play with and compare guns.

I understand not everyone has the time or access to do all of the above, but with te internet now, comparing pictures and descriptions is easier than ever.

Access to reference books is also easier now than it has ever been.

The one other difference IMHO is that 400 seems to be quite happy to answer the same questions over and over whereas I think some (me being one) have answered the Webley PHV1 vs Screw Grip enough times !!!

That really is the great part of this site--most everyone brings something to the table--some as in 400Nitros case brings a lot more--however as stated above--I am sure there are many on this site, myself included, that read on a daily basis about the guns, game and everything else associated with our sport.

With your guidance and knowledge along with some others it makes it possible to separate the wheat from chaff..

Gentlemen, I happen to know 400 personally, and I concur with everyone here. If he tells you anything you doubt, where double rifles are concerned, go with him because he will be correct 100% of the time! He has total recall, and an almost photograpic memory. If he simply scans material he is intrested in, he will remember it verbatum. He deals in numbers for a liveing, and can spot a missplaced number as far as he can see it! I wish he would write a book, because it would be one we would all be buying in a heartbeat! Congratulations Mark!

I have been in the same room with George Caswell and 400Nitro and can report that they are not the same person.

400Nitro really should write a book.

It would no doubt be the Definitive Work on the subject of British Double Rifles.

It wouldn't worry me if he was a dealer,
if half the dealers had his level of knowledge,
we'd all be better off.

I find if ever I sell one of my guns, which is rare
the fact that you can provide info on the guns makes
people realise that's what may seem just an
apple vs an apple is not quite as simple as that.
