Oops I understand. The $12,000 is the minimum the NEXT bidder must bid.

These Jeffrey .400's were selling for $10G or less recently. The Elmer Keith name (undocumented and unproved) adds nothing to the price.

Not in the US, at least not for the nice ones. A good friend, a .470 shooter, tried mine and wanted one for himself. He finally got a nice one for 50% more than the price that you mention. Even with two of us actively searching, it took a year. Yeah, you can find those ready for a wall rack for that here, but those worth having are substantially more, and have been for some time.

That means my 450 Nitro and all of my 450/400's
are worth more !

I would think the simple economics of such rifles being desired by more baby boomers who in turn also want an African Hunt would drive the price up substantially.

I'm in my 50's but will ?probably collect Doubles for the next ten years, then maybe look to sell off guns in my 70's.Heaven forbid to think what hunting/firearm prices will be at that time!!

I personally think that Classic Brit rifles/shotguns will be the most desired rifles sought among firearms available for the foreseeable future.

I agree with 400NitroExpress in his assessment of recent prices. You can't buy a good, servicable Jeffery in .450/.400 3" for US$10k in today's market.

How much would one go for in

excellent condition? $17K-$20k?

very good? $15K

good?? $10K

What would folks be willing to pay for such a gun?

IMHO, they haven't got to 20k yet - except maybe an absolute mint, unfired one.

18k for an excetional, cased one.

12 - 17k for the rest.

I still think 450/400 3 1/4" are undervalued for no validreason
