What a beautiful gun.......i guess im a bit of a hammer gun fan myself....i suppose i prefer older guns anyway.....

Shame about her little indescrepancies, other than that she is very handsome indeed.

And yet at this sort of price one would expect the gun to be in perfect working order.......

Still,very beautiful.......

Price on this rifle is $11K now. Assuming it's off face and needs to be re-stocked given the crack, whats the max that would cost compared to the potential value of the rifle? Given the market for doubles these days, I'm quite surprised no entrepeneur has picked up this gun for a restoration project.

3k plus to restock. More if you get it done by someone who can do it properly.

100 - 300 for putting on face.

400 - 800 for re regulation if needed.

You would have to hold on to it for a while to get your money back but if you want to keep it then it is a decent price.

I just sent a rifle off and that's what I was quoted. The 'smith came highly recommended but I won't post his name or a recommendation until I see what happens.

I was told that replacing the pin would be around $60 plus whatever engraving was needed and plasma blasting the hooks would be around around $80.

OK...so $11K plus 4K plus say 500 plus 1000 to be safe... that's 16.5K. If I was liquid enough at the moment I'd see this as an OK deal given what .45+ cal doubles seem to be going for these days. The fact that it hasn't sold makes me wonder if the factory letter (if there is one) reveals any secrets.

I think it is a nice vintage hammer gun with ishues. I don't see more than $7500-$8000. The reason is the money needed to make it right. Then it is a reworked hammer gun.

I'd be surprised if the crack in the stock ended up requiring restocking. I would think it would be a straightforward repair. Just looking at the inletting of the left lock, I wonder if maybe it's already been restocked once. Putting it back on face shouldn't be more than $350.
