Update on Ahmed/Colin's Purdey and Boss batteries
      #379953 - 10/10/23 11:45 PM

I am happy to be told to piss off. Purdey battery of 9 complete. BOSS BATTERY OF 6 complete. My last project BOSS trio. 600 NE s-n 10600 nearly complete. 22 hornet S-N 10601 sxs with extra 410 barrels underway. The missing link I think 9.3x74R O/U S-N 10602. Others may suggest how to complete trio.

9.3x74R IN OVER UNDER LONDON BEST. SCOPED COULD YOU EXPECT 1.5 “ group at 100 metres.

I should think this to be expected with a modern made and regulated scoped “London Best”.
That said, as one knows, accuracy and regulation are highly dependent upon the ammunition.
I am dubious of the consistency with some major makers ammunition these days. Some (unnamed) do seem to show serious variability lot to lot or year over year.

Thankyou first line sounds posative. This trio of guns is my last. For me 100 metres a long shot. 1.5” group at 100 metres allows for the middle gun of trio to cover rabbit up to buff.

"Rabbit up to Buff"…..well just be careful you do not encounter the Monty Python "Holy Grail" killer rabbit.

Colin,

For that third and last suggestion, you might need to offer some comments. What will the last be used for? Where do you have a gap? What do you plan to use the third rifle or gun for?

From memory you've got;
.22 Nornet/.410;
5,6x50R;
.22 Hipower;
,303;
.300;
.375,
.450?;
.500:
.600;
10-bore.

And others. I forget some of them!

Anything needed in the .243 to 7mm range?

Side by side, under and over, perhaps a combination rifle?

I would add something like a 12 or 16 with a 7x65r or 303 combination gun. 16/7x65r over and under is more continental in style, a 12 / 303 side by side more British.

It would be pretty much the perfect all round gun. The sort of thing to take on a trip alongside say a big double and you can shoot pretty much any deer / antelope but also with a shotgun in hand, duck, phaesant, guinea fowl etc.

+1 for that as well!
Lancaster has certainly dug up some wonderful drillings & Cape guns over the years!
