Holland 500 No.2 almost done

Was over in UK last week on a driven pheasant shoot, took out five chaps who had never picked up a shotgun before ! Thought it best they all went down a shooting school the day before so we pitched up at Holland school. They all had a great time and did a lot better than I thought. Roland at Hollands said they found a cache of 1960īs cordite .500 ammo. Would I like to have a go with the "in house" round action .500, of course !!!. What a lovely rifle, seemed to kick less than my old .470 O/U ?? Anyway, back to the shop where they had my .500 nearly finished which I had a look at then a big lunch at the Guinea...those steak pies I took a couple of pics, they didnīt come out well but will post some better ones when it is done, Roland Land came over to pick up the buff hide from the chap I shot last year to start on the case for the two, tools to be by Mr Marsh

Great looking rifle Mike, congratulations are in order on assembling a really fine set of guns. I am very glad you went with Michael on the tooling, you wont be disappointed trust me.

There are no words! The top tang carried up and over the nose of the comb is something that Hollands has always done par excellence, and yours is no exception.

Also: Holland & Holland just know how to do colour case hardening - very nice.

Another beauty, Mike, with restrained engraving compared with some from H&H. Obviously you're a brave man - the chequered, inletted butt 'plate' suggesting you're not about to whack on a pad.

Off to the Selous next Sept with a 2 buff ticket. I wear a "Pact" recoil pad sewn into my shirt when shooting the .500 so same as a recoil pad (which I don't like aesthetically). Mind you the old boys fired 4 bores with metal butts !! thanks for the kind words,
