What donor would you pick?
      #254745 - 07/10/14 03:23 PM

Good evening everybody, the 45-120 project is well on its way I want to build another one for my father. For todays question what gun would you pick from the Blackburn LLC 747arms.com website. I am looking for a purely functional rifle looks are not important, no external hammers, and double triggers. Look forward to hear everybody's opinion and comments. By the way I have chosen one that is my choice from what I have learned from this site.

Thanks Kurt

Simson or sauer with bolsters like the merkel 47 or a merkel but the seem to hold higher prices even though they are the exact same as the aforementioned actions.
oh and greener cross bolted.

Kurt,
If you truely don't care about the amount of original finish left on the donor gun, then I would choose Sauer # 743 at $599.00. There are several other Sauers for sale at slightly more money that have more finish if you want to upgrade. I have bought several donor guns from Carl and always found him to be honest and forthright about what he has for sale. If you get a gun from him and find an unknown problem with it, he will either discount it to you or return your money. He is a first class dealer and a gentleman. Bob

http://www.757arms.com/ <-- decent selection of donors. I'd say simson or sauer is a great pick
