huglu/cz technical question
      #124315 - 17/01/09 02:29 PM

Anyone ever unsolder the monoblock on one of these? The barrels are attached to a block, and I am wondering what the diameter of the barrels are, as they slide in.

considering a 45-120 on one of these

IMHO They will not be soldered they will be brazed and/or shrink fitted. The remelt temp of the spelter if such will be above the temper point of the monoblock.

If you wish to remove the barrels ie restore the monoblock, you must cut off the barrels and ream out the remainder from the monoblock.

Regards

Thanks Bramble
Say, with my poor memmory, do i recall you mentioning that your brother builds DRs on these. or was that bonanza?. Think he might have a scrap or spare or blown set of barrels? mine is a 201a, but i think i could headspace any of the 20X or 30X sxs barrels.

thanks
jeffe

That is Bonanza. His brother used to post here as Colorado IIRC.

I stand corrected and am sorry to have led you wrong.

I have never seen that on a modern production gun. To be frank that seems like a strange way of doing things because when they set the ribs they must have to clamp everything including the monoblock and barrels up, it must all be waving around like a prick in a shirtsleeve. I just cannot see the sense in it, if you are building production mono's then a squirt of liquid CO2 or nitrogen and slip the tubes in to a room temp block and they are there for ever..
Ah well they must have their reasons.

Again I apologise if I caused you additional work.

Regards

like working on 4 wheelers or scouting a deer infested lease, time spent is always fun...

but i am going to prrof the heck out of it
