Looking for Shotgun action
      #295683 - 22/02/17 11:27 PM

Looking for a 12g or 20g hammerless sxs shotgun action only , condition not important , but must have tang and tang safety and associated parts . probably a single barrel with fit the bill if it has a tang safety.

Ah ha !

Not a bad plan, better to ask for what you want I think as some one may have a rooted action sitting around, only need to chop off the back end & send to you, I will help look around for you to .

Do you have one to copy or need close up pics of one ?

I've got one but there is the small problem of a small bit of water between here and there. Hope some one can help you out. Post pics when you get it finished.

I have plenty of close up pics of the safety installed on rifles ,and also a jpg of the patent drawing of BSA , which is a bit grainy but gives the general idea. Thanks for the offer to look around ,appreciate it very much .
Im reasonably confident that BSA would have utilised a tang safety from one of thier shotguns of the period for the sporting rifles , with minor changes ,mainly to the sear bar/rod , rather than develope a whole new set up just for the rifles . Im guessing of course , but they would have tried to save time and money when ever they could .

Just the tang sliced off right behind the action would be enough to at least have some thing to start with , I don't particularly need the rest of it.

Getting gun parts from overseas into Au , is a challange due to our restrictive laws and also due to laws in other countries regarding exportation of said parts .A few months ago I attempted to get some barrel liners from the US ,would have got them through this end as steel tubing , but got messy on the US side due to them being gun parts .

Just took delivery of a cleaning rod and a rear ladder sight for my 1873 Winchester from the US , on the customs declaration the sender thoughtfully had them listed as machine parts and the passed through with no trouble.

Yes the US sucks now days for get stuff out of, breaks my heart just find the Internet & ever year after 08 it got harder & harder !

The saftey is very simple & works back to front to most rifles, has small slot machined into the back of the action .

I will take one out & send pic if you want, just send me a email ?

Sarge ,
that would great and appreciated . I under stand that the bar is supported by a rod that goes east west across the action after the bar passes through the but socket , I assume it is the brass stock pin that k
helps to strengthen the rear of the for stock .
