Double Rifle cases - ALL SOLD
      #259310 - 22/01/15 06:31 AM

I have two double rifle cases I am selling.

Case #1 is a vintage oak and leather double rifle case imported from England with a 450/400 Webley built William Evans double rifle with 26" barrels. The case currently has an Evans trade label and charge card. It's difficult to find vintage cases that are built with the correct length for double rifles. $850 plus shipping.

Case #2 is a modern Marvin Huey oak and leather case with a canvas outer cover. The case was fitted for a Jeffery 450/400 sidelock with 24" barrels, scope and a 13 5/8 lop. This case would need to be fitted for your double. The case and outer cover are in excellent condition with only minor scuffs to the outer cover. Huey is quoting $2,800 for a similar case. $1,250 plus shipping

If you would like pictures please pm me your email and I'll send them.

Thanks

My good friend, now departed, Willard T., used to send double rifles he obtained back to H&H for refurbish or repair and for cases when they did not have them. H&H average $600.00 CDN to refurbish the rifles and/or shotguns, as well as another $600.00 to $650.00 to make wooden cases for them bound in leather. This was in the mid 1970's.
This is just to give guys here an idea what it cost to have one made- even back then. $600.00 was a LOT of money to many of us back in 1976.

Daryl

I think an oak and leather case by H&H today is over £5,000. I priced a set of mounts for my H&H 375Flanged Mag, over £5,000 plus the necessary rib work.

I will dig up what the cost of the case was for one of my rifles from H&H early last century. Proportionate to the cost of the rifle, they were not cheap.

The Huey cases always seem good value to me, except when our aus dollar is at the current exchange rate!

Cheers,
Laurie

Sorry for the confusion, I was looking at the picture order not the text when I updated the post.

The Jeffery case has already sold, the other three are available.

Go On, you know you want it

It cost me about $60 to get a similar case from Emmebi from Italy.

This is the H&H rook rifle case I bought from him. My hammerless H&H 295 rook rifle could not have fit it any better.

Thanks all,

The double rifle cases are all sold. I do have a nice oak and leather case for a shotgun. Currently set up for 30" barrels I believe.

I have an H&H rook rifle just like the one in the picture. It has a tang sight that was made as part of the tang. It is the only one I have seen made this way. Has anyone else seen one made this way.

I haven't seen an integral sight base on a rook tang but have on other H&H rifles. Does it partially recess into the tang? Any pictures?

Sorry. Posting pic's on this forum is a little above my computer skill level. The sight looks something like a Marbles tang sight that they used on a Winchester. The base of the sight is actually the tang on the H&H action. The top part of the sight isn"t recessed into the tang but when folded down lays on top of the tang.
