Thanks for that Lancaster.

Know of anyone with an older catalog?

Cheers

Sorry, might be a dumb question buys. But aren’t the 9.3 and 9.5 Mauser rounds x57 not x62. Or maybe the picture gives a wrong perspective?

Kind regards

Steve

The 9.3x62 was known worldwide as the "9.3 mm Mauser". Due to it's popularity it was offered by Kynoch too. The 9.3x57 was popular in Scandinavia only. It was unknown in Germany and elsewhere until second hand Husquarna and other rifles so chambered were imported from Sweden in the 1970s. 9.3x57 ammo and rifles were made for export only in Germany pre-WW2. Germans favored the 9x57 instead. The 9.5x57 is a Mannlicher - Schoenauer development. Contrary to popular belief, it is not merely a necked up 9 or 9.3x57, but sort of an "improved" version instead, with a larger and steeper shoulder.

Thanks Kuduae for that information. I have a 9.3x62 and a 9.5x57 which as you have iterated does indeed look like an improved case. I always thought mine must be odd as when I fire form brass it really straightens out the taper and sharpens up the shoulder. So I have learned something today

IIRC, the 9.5x57 has a .454" shoulder, which is the same as my both of my 9.3x62's. This is the same diameter Ackley used for his improved ctgs. on the standard '06/57mm base case.

I have now verified that the 1925 Kynoch catalog does not list the 9.3 mm Mauser so they must have introduced it to their range sometime in the period 1926 to 1936.

Anyone with a Kynoch catalog in that 10 year period?

Cheers

I have a red covered ICI catalogue in virtually new condition but despite searching through the book, I cannot find a date anywhere. The page shown above is identical to that in my catalogue so mine does list the 9.3 Mauser
