My favourite knife is the Norwegan " Troll kniven " made by
Brusletto.

I always have a cheap Swedish MORA knife as my rough working
knife - they are outstanding for the price.

you Scandanavians make some nice knives. My first hunting knife at the age of 12 was a sheath knife with pressed wood handle (you know where there is disks of wood around the tang and they are pressed solid with glue or whatever) and quite a nice blade. I still have it, its nothing special but I'm amazed at how good that knife still is.

I have a kershaw roughneck if you ever see a brochure of them with a 6" almost Bowie type blade with a rubber grip. Not the best looking knife but it has gutted many animals and works great when sharpened up well.

Here is my current favorite. By John Toner. Works like a champ and very sharp.

Notice how the 'arm' covers the blade and turns the whole blade into a gut hook.

One of my favorites is a Bowie I had made for me last summer by Ernie Grospitch. It is on his site www.erniesknives.com mine is the second "Kansas Bowie". Curly maple handle and my initials RW on the handle also. Ernie can work with you on any design you want and does fine work. Have also sent him my favorite drop point skinner to make a duplicate of, but with his craftsmanship. Gonna have him put curly maple handle and my initials on the handle and sheath. It should be done in another week or so. It should also be posted on his site, I'll let you all know when it's finished. Also have a Gerber boot knife my folks gave me in 1979 for Christmas. I cherish that ole knife. My daily carry knife is a Case that I've carried for many years.

for boar hunting i use a custom model like an applegate smatchet ,for daily use i like master hunter by cold steel.juan pablo pozzi ph from argentina juan

...another alternative would be the loveless 'clones' by lone wolf and beretta for a slightly higher grade 'working' knife at a decent price, imho...

One of the best knives i ever had was a cheap barlow pocket knife a friend gave me years ago, about 25 years ago ,no matter how roughly i sharpened it ,it was always razor sharp and gutted and skinned many roos with it .Somehow i lost it, and have never been able to find another one like it .knives are like guns you cant have to many of them ,a good utility knive is the british army jungle knife i think its about 125 dollars from lawrance ordnance ,it has a thick blade and is solid .I think real knives should not be expensive ,alot of theses expensive knives you feel guilty about using them ,they should be sensibly priced and designed to be used and worn out

I prefere the Kershaws as well. I had a little folding one that was great for turning ears, lips, eyes etc but unfortunately I lost it this last trip. An Olfa knife works just as well too.
