Benelli Ultra-Light 20 gauge Shotgun
      #198283 - 01/01/12 05:09 AM

Anyone here have any experience with the Benelli Ultra-light shotgun??
Have a friend who has used a Benelli Montefeltro for years--abuses it horribly and it NEVER fails to go bang when you pull the trigger..been thinking of getting a semi-auto for a change from the doubles..will probably still use the double more often than not..but have always wanted to try one of these..been thinking of the ultra-lite or the Legacy in 20 gauge...

Thank you

Ripp

Ripp,
Benelli 20ga Ultra-Light (it is called Beccaccia in Europe) is a lightweight version of their 20ga Montefeltro, with carbon fiber rib and a shorter magazine made of aluminum.
Typical Benelli quality in a lighter package.

I have used one in 12ga when it was first introduced to develope shot loads. The gun belonged to a friend that wanted to use it on small bird hunting with dogs. The gun balanced perfectly and its light weight is a plus with the gun at "ready" for long time periods.
Since then, Benelli developed the Raffaello Crio 28, in 28ga. If I had to have one for this type of hunting I would choose the 28ga. I like Benellis but prefer their two piece receiver guns (Raffaello type) than the one piece receiver (Montefeltro type).
Happy New Year.

Thank you for the info..and yes, I have looked at the Legacy (two piece receiver) as well..

Think one of those in either 28 or 20 gauge would be ideal for shooting over my pointer...the only reason I would choose the 20 over the 28 is when I am out in the field..20 gauge are easier to come across to purchase should you run low in ammo and the 20's here are much cheaper ---BUT, the 28 is a really nice gauge....so..

Take Care

I have looked at the Ultralights but never shot one, I was very close to buying one a few years ago. The Benellis that I have hunted with are a 20ga Montefeltro that I used for one season and a 12ga Super Black Eagle II that I have used the last couple of years. I've never had a problem and they have worked well, for some reason the Black Eagle has just been better at hitting birds for me. The new 28 is nice but I would prefer one in a synthetic stock. The one negative I have with their current wood stocked models is they have followed Beretta in using the fake decals, at least the 28 I handled did, not positive about the Ultralight. Anyway, too much money for phony wood.

Ripp did you make a decision/buy something?

I am thinking about the ultra light for my daughter. I love my Super Black Eagle for doves, and she said she would prefer an auto over a double.

Just wondering if you bought one and what you think about it,

Thanks

I had an Ultra light but in 12 gauge. It was a nice shotgun. I wish I had kept it.

This is my daughter Emily at Dury's Gun Shop in San Antonio last Saturday as we picked up her new Ultralight.

The stock is laser-etched, but at least its real wood and not a decal.

She obviously is very happy and hopefully we will have time to break it in soon.

We finally got out to the range yesterday with Emily's new 28 Ga. Ultralight.

(75 degrees in February at the San Antonio Gun Club)

Emily had a great time and shot well thanks to the instruction from her Grandfather (who turned 81 the day before!)

I made a nice video and if I can figure a way to upload it directly I will.

Thanks.

I made a short video of her shooting. If I can figure out how to post it I will.

On another note - The San Antonio Gun Club Annual Bird Hunter's Warm Up League has started. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Opening day is only 7 weeks away!
