So, Gentlemen...if you owned a Brno ZKK 602 .375 HH with the pop-up peep sight, and you wanted to restock it (as a working rifle, not a safe queen), what would YOU do? What have you done to yours?

Anecdotes, recommendations, pictures, and ideas welcome!

I assume you want to stock it to use the peep sights.........
I have had a few big Czech actioned rifles, they can be a fine choice with some attention.

My 602 375 didn't the peep and was always used scoped so the rather large "Bavarian" stock was fine.
A 458-3" with peep (rechambered 602 .458win) that was stocked in SA with a very trim stock, its barrel had been shortened as well as was a very unruly brute.
A 458Lott with peep (another rechambered .458win) was stocked with Mcmillans "express" pattern stock. I had the LOP a bit too long and it would hang up sometimes, but that was my fault not the stock design.
A 458Lott in a CZ550, was the factory "American" stock, thou thoroughly bedded and shortened a touch. Served very well.

Ideally, I'd like to stock it to compromise. Ha! Mostly scoped, with a useable peep if the scope messes up, or in the thick stuff. It will have the old Brno mounts. Seems like You have to maximize for one, or the other though :/

Thanks man. I've been looking at the McMillan. Seems to have a good rep, though I prefer wood. Northern BC isn't friendly to wood though.

Looking for options, and what has served people well. Appreciate your thoughts.

I have a 602ZKK 375H&H, but no peep on it. It is Jon Speeds last rifle he used in Africa while working there. The original stock fits me perfectly and I have no problem getting on the Irons or scope. Barrel has been shortened to 21" and has a barrel sling swivel. Bolt handle has been straightened ,I hate that little crook in the factory handle. Front sight is a Masterpiece ramp with fluorescent sight. It is adjustable for elevation as I wanted to keep the factory rear when I shortened the barrel. Stock has been completely glassed from rear tang to end of forearm.

Here is mine - a 1967 model restocked for scope use. I think I have posted these before.

Cheers.

About the same age my first 602 was - nice stock work on this rifle!

That IS a gorgeous stock. Aesthetically, pretty much ideal!

How do you find using the peep, with the stock so straight? Doable?

Zimhunter, is that the original "Bavarian" stock, with the hogback?

Yeah, it's doable............but only just. I never did understand why Brno decided to put them out with both peep and rear sights, as one was always in the way of the other. You'll notice there is no rear sight on my rifle.....I had it removed in order to be able to use the peep if I needed to.

But in all honesty, I've never had to use it. The stock was built for scope use at a time when I was culling Brumby's and pigs up on Cape York. The 1.75 - 6x has never let me down.......including a plains game trip to Zimbabwe.

Cheers.

GG

Both better; peep sight isnīt everyones "cup of tea" and if you use it regularly you could just take the upper part of rear sight away.

Thanks, GG375. I suspect now I'll be looking for a hogback-ish stock for that reason.

Has anyone here ever inlet a CZ 550 stock for a Brno 602? I know the trigger setup is different, so one would have to hog out some wood there, but are there any other differences that could mess a guy up?
