AHR rifles - Wayne Jacobson - CZ 550 Magnum

Anyone used this company before?

Looking at the #2 and #3 package - which one would you go for?
Restock runs 1600 dollars... but I think the new american express stocks look rather nice.

Overpriced or value for money?

I don't own any of their rifles, but a friend in Milwaukee has a 600 OK rifle built by them on a GMA action. That rifle is beautifully put together and he is very happy with it.

Good hunting!

Wayne at AHR did the CZ#1 Upgrade on my 500 Jeffery and I was thrilled with it. It cost $500 (about 4 years ago) and included installing a M70 type 3 pos safety, replacing the CZ set trigger with a single stage match trigger, and straightening and filling the bolt handle. None of these enhancements were needed, but I wanted them. I had absolutely no issues with any of Wayne's work and he is absolutely great to deal with. Here's a picture of my 500 Jeffery (you can see the safety and bolt handle)

Chuck375,

Beautiful rifle and very reasonable pricing for their work! No wonder they have a legion of happy clients including my friend.

Fontainebleu,

Congratulations! Please remember to post pictures here both during the build process and when your rifle is completed.

Good hunting to both you gentlemen!

I have used this company. They built me a .600 Overkill rifle a few years ago. It was built on a Granite Mountain Arms action, has a 24" barrel, and weighs 13.5 lbs. empty. I am very happy with the rifle, as well as Wayne's service and performance. He delivers on time, and as per his specified price. I'm not an expert at posting pictures, but I'll try.

I recently purchased a 600 OK which was built by Wayne. I came into the build at its completion but I have had a very attentive and available relationship with Wayne since. He is very quick to respond and is available by phone most of the time.
I received the rifle this week and spent a short time shooting it today. Fabulous. I will be shooting again Tuesday- 900 grain swagged bullets at 2100 plus is the goal with lots of room to reach higher velocity if I can take the recoil.

You guys shooting the 600 OK have my admiration. A 570g TSX at 2300 fps out of my 11.25 lb 500 Jeffery is fine, but I'm not looking for any more recoil than that ...

The Brass round is a 725 grain bullet made available by Dr. Rob Garnick. The target show my first two rounds fired. The other two bullets are 900 grain swagged bullets and show what happens if the rounds are not crimped in tight enough. My cannelure tool barely etches into the soldered core jacket. It makes a difference as can be seen in the other round that was not crimped at all and driven deep by the recoil.

Here are a couple of photos:
