Converting 375 to 416

How difficult would it be to convert a 375 H&H bolt action to 416 Remington?

Change the barrel and maybe magazine and feed ramp.

Why not just buy another gun ? and
are you gaining that much ?

I'm left handed and finding a gun at a decent price is hard enough. There aren't any factory left handed rifles larger than 375.
As for the second question, I would certainly take suggestions.

Thanks
Andy

SubDoc

Understand the reason now.

Re 2nd question, have a look at Cartridges of the World
or Any Shot you want or any book showing comprisons
of veocity etc.

But if hunting overseas ? Africa? ammo availability if yours
is lost may be a consideration for not changing.

Good luck.

My rifle would be used primarily in Alaska, and at the range.
The 416 or a 458 would be my preference.

Can't you get a Model 70 left handed in 416?

What kind of .375 rifle is it? I understand that this is a simple barrel change on most rifles, just remember to order a barrel with left hand rifling twist.

Winchester doesn't catalog one.

Can't speak for every action but I converted a CZ 375 H&H to 416 Rem. by a simple barrel change. Really, that was it. Feeds fast and slow. I suspect a LH M70 would be the same.

If Ruger comes out with a .416 based on the .375 ruger I suspect a lefthand Hawkeye will come about. I have a .375 ruger and really like it. I didnt have to rob a bank to buy it and set up to load for it either. Maybe something to think about if you have time. I hear the .416 ruger is a good possibilty. I hope it materializes myself.
