Some trophies have come home

I have finally got my big kudu (from 2005) home and a waterbuck I shot in 2001. Mounts done by Dennis Harris, The Artistry of Wildlife. I picked them up from his shop when I was visiting family back home in Michigan.

I have low ceilings but am really enjoying eye level placement so as to see the great detail done on these heads. Since I am a girl I get to hang stuff where ever I want and this is my living room.

BTW- the little oil painting of the ground hornbill is a Vicki Greef original. In time I will add more mounts and some more paintings, etc. I've got some very nice Zulu baskets there (next to the old fashioned TV

) and some sort of wooden carving of an African woman and child. Also, I don't remember if I posted the nyala here so forgive me if I am repetative but he was also mounted by Dennis.

That mounting style is really nice looking. Looks like they dont protrude from the wall quite as much as a straight out shoulder mount.

They are some very nice trophies you have there.

Love the Kudu.

I didn't realize how big Waterbuck were until I saw them in person.

Great stuff Ann , looking good , some very nice animals up there , that is a monster Kudu & I belive Bow shot to ?

But wont your Boyfriend/Husband make you hang them in the shed ?

Where most of my friends have theirs !

Hi Ann,

Very nice indeed, it is very hard awaiting the arrival of your trophies as most hunters will attest, mine will be home February - March 2012 which isn't to bad at all seeing the hunt was August this year.

Fatboy404 is awaiting his as well but as they say 'All good things come to those that wait' and it is good to see that they are on the 'Inside' as was pointed out.

Thanks guys, yup, too long a wait. Many more mounts to be done but funds are limited right now. I love the side mount/wall pedestal. IMO this is the way to go for maximum enjoyment of your trophy and yes, takes up much less space especially with big animals like these.

Cool trophies Ann.

Mine are spread out too.

But I have not been allowed to hang the "Honey Moon Hog", the warthog over the bed in the bedroom ....

Very nice trophies and great looking display/poses. Do they have a name for it? I would call it an off-set drop shoulder, but I just made that up.

Come on, that's a Vintage TV trophy..

You have to understand that if everything was 'Beautiful' that would downgrade the look of the "REAL" trophies..
