Ready for Africa
      #156682 - 16/03/10 09:31 PM

Well it is nearly time.
I fly out good Friday for Zim on a 10 day Buffalo hunt with my Father and sister. We will be hunting with Sango Safaris.

My father was diagnosed with mesothelioma ( asbestos cancer ) in Sept 2008. He under went chemo in January 2009 and after the second bout he had a stroke and was hospitalized for 9 weeks. He was told he would never use his left arm again and may walk with the use of a frame.

To his credit he proved them all wrong and returned to running the home property and doing most things including shooting (he took a nice Fallow last year, not long after being home).

When he was told he had cancer his wish was to get back to Afrca and hunt a Cape Buffalo. After being told today he had the all clear for another three months we can now get excited about Africa.
My sister is coming along as an observer and to share some memories with her Dad (and hold the video camera).

Hopfully we come home with our two Buff, but if we dont it is time and memories shared !!.

Here,s a photo of my 404 ready for the Dark Continent. It is loaded with 400 grain Hydro Woodleighs hot off the press (they were only made last week at my request). After polishing the feed ramp they feed just fine. I,d like to thank Geoff of Woodleigh for his help in getting these bullets to me in time for my hunt, Great company and Great product !!.

Cheers Neale.

What better reason to hunt Africa than with your father and sister. Straight shooting.

Have a good hunt, this reminds one to make the dreams come true when time is on your side and not
to wait to long.

I'm sorry to hear about your father but he will no doubt have a great time on the safari with you and your sister.

Good luck on the hunt, hope you all score well and bring us back some photos and film to enjoy with us.

Good luck and best wishes.

The rifle also looks the goods and no doubt will kill buffalo well. Well done to Woodleigh too.

Hi Neale,

I'm glad that your Dad got the "Green" light and from what you told me about Sango Safaris your in good company and if your able to add a trophy "Dictator" Zim will love you like Mandella. I am glad to see that Geoff was able to pull off a small miracle in getting them to you so promptly.

Maybe you and your Dad will be on the cover of the 2011 Catalogue. Again, good luck to you both and hope your Sister has a steady hand with the camera.

Cheers Mate,

Jeff Gray

Hi Neale,
My hunting mate fly's over on that date also.
He stays in Jo'burg the night and then on to Vic Falls the next day to spend a few days touring prior to our Safari.
You might meet Andrew.
Have a wonderful Safari mate.

Best of luck with your hunt. I'm sure there will be many fond memories. I like Craig from Sango Safaris, he's easy tot talk to and has a good sense of humour. As a side, he was telling me at the SCI convention that US citizens are not permitted into their hunting areas because of sanctions that the US have on the owner of the concession, as a result the game is not being hunted quite as hard and there are some very good buff.

Please give us lots to look at on your return and your thoughts on the new Woodleighs.

Enjoy.

CF

When we went to Zim last year, we made use of the service offered by PHASA for dealing with the firearms stuff at J'burg. It was a very good choice, my brothers rifle was temporarily misplaced. The PHASA people told us to sit and they would take care of it. They did a wonderful job, it saved us having to use the folding interpreter service and the hassle that goes with it. I wish I'd had them in 05 when I almost didn't get out of RSA because some dear sole had pocketed the fee I paid and there was no record of me taking the rifle out of the strong room. It was very concerning for a while.

Sorry for the minor hi-jack

I just want to wish you the best luck for your buffalo hunt. Sure it will be a great experience to share that hunt in Africa with your father.

I would love to hear from you that your father found and old daggabull with huge boss, and we will love some pics of the bulls. The ammo looks impresive, and 404 Jeffery is a good buffalo caliber.

Congratulations
Jose
