I am looking for opinions from experienced Accumark shooters. For example, what kind of accuracy can you expect from a 300wby? Thank you in advance for your info!

I have one in .270 Weatherby that is very accurate and consistent.

I have a 300 Wby Accumark and on a good day with Wby factory ammo I can shoot .75 inch groups. Seems to be the best I can do no matter how accurate the rifle. If your interested in buying one they're good rifles but a little on the heavy side.

Colorado: I have one in 340 Weatherby and with factory and my reloads, I can shoot between .5-.75" three shot groups all day long. The rifle lives up to it's name. jorge

I have an older Mark 5 Custom in 340. What is the difference between it and an Accumark?

It's a new model using the same MK5 action. It also has a composite stock with an aluminum bedding plate. It uses a custom fluted Krieger Criterion barrel which is why the rifle tends to be more accurate than the original MK5, hence the name.

I thought it had 6 locking lugs instead of the 9 on the Mk V's?

I don't believe so.The Weatherby website lists the accumark as having the MK5 action with 9 lugs and just for exercise I counted my 300. Maybe the Vanguard series has 6 but I don't believe it is offered in the accumark model.

I stand corrected. I must have been thinking of the Vanguard sub-moa which has two locking lugs according to one of my catalogs.

The original Wby Varmintmaster chambered for the 224 Wby and 22/250 had 6 lugs, 2 rows of 3 as opposed to 3 rows of 3 on the full size action.

Wby discontinued the Varmintmaster and lengthened the action and that lengthened action is used for Mark Vs in 270, 30/06, 240 Wby and also 223, 22/250 and 243.

The Accumark also has a heavier contour barrel than the Wby Deluxe in calibres from 340 Wby and down. The Accumark uses the same contour (except it is a fluted barrel) as what the Wby Deluxe uses in 378 and 416. Deluxes made as Product Upgrades in 30/378 and 338/378 also have the same contour as the Deluxe in 378 and 460.

The various heavy barrel Wby Varmint rifles have the same contour as is used on the 460 Deluxe.

Wbys are also available with the Krieger cut rifling barrel via the custom shop.
