It's a very nice rifle that's for sure.

If I were permitted to make just one small alteration I would biff that bloody ugly foresight hood. I hate those frinkin things (not foresight hoods, just that particular foresight hood). They seem to appear on quite a few American custom rifles and I can't for the life of me understand why. Long, tubular and knurled on one end. Ugh!! Should be some sort of law against it. And frankly, a mandatory death penalty doesn't seem out of place.

Just my 0.2c

But how much was it?

I don't remember the asking price, and I traded for it, rather than buying it, but it was only a fraction of what the new Mauser costs. I fell in love with it at first sight. I'm still wrestling with the question of whether to or not mount a scope on it. I definitely don't want to mar the receiver ring, and sweating a scope base on the barrel would obliterate the maker's name, but using open sights under hunting conditions is an impossibility for me.

XAUSA That is one fine rifle. The definition of the British DGR. I would also take it hands down to the newer models. The dual cross bolts are necessary yet not found on original Rigbys.

I saw a Mauser M98 Magnum 375H&H Belted Magazine rifle recently. I didn't handle it, it was inside a glass case at a gunshop near Melbourne.

I was surprised how large it was, and the amount of metal on the front sling band. I could see where the weight is. It appeared very well made.
