My meat gun.
      #260980 - 23/02/15 06:26 AM

I'm a retired (sort of) (are you ever) (still have a farm) farmer. I had always wanted a classic Mauser in 9.3x62 ever since obtaining my first copy of John Taylor's African Rifle Cartridges. After the fall of the Iron Curtain and the subsequent importation of the CZ550 rifles, I realized this might be the only true opportunity I'd have. The CZ550 was economically achievable for a struggling farmer, and being a modern firearm it offered the best chance of having a quality Mauser system rifle that could be used to a patina without crying over the inevitable dings and scratches of everyday hard farmer usage. I haven't looked back, and neither has she.

CZ550 Luxe 9.3x62mm. Kahles 3x9 rifle-scope in Warne QD mounts. Three position safety, single set trigger, open sights, dual recoil bolts. Barrel dated for the Millennium 2000. She's starting to show some wear now, but has never let me down. Either the rifle or the cartridge. Some one of my descendants is going to be lucky. Norman4

If that rifle is showing "some wear", I cannot see it. It still looks better than ANY of the Weatherby wooden stocked rifles at the local sporting good store.

The WTBY's actually hurt the eyes with all the waves and irregular highlights flashing all over from their wavy-sanded and gloss finished stocks.

That is a great looking rifle chambered for a wonderful ctg., Norman4.

Norman4,
I was told many years ago when first starting my trade by my instructors "if you look after your gear your gear will look after you"...I've applied that wherever I could, obviously you certainly do to! My rifles aren't safe queens, they do get out when I have a rare opportunity & they've never let me done yet! I have an original P14 in the gun cupboard that's all but 100 years old, yes she shows some wear & tear, the stock has been refinished back with bee's wax, boiled linseed oil & turps mixture & rubbed in hard by hand! I still use it for hard hunting, it can still get good enough groups at 50m (more so my eyes & ability) & taken some big boars over the 100kg mark all anchored on the spot with one round.
Just because you're old(er), doesn't mean you're over the hill!
Keep up the good work matey, good rig to pass to the kids/grandkids - hopefully not for quite some time yet

Firstly, go after Daryl .....

Eww!

Secondly, it might be Norman's meat gun but the background cloth is full of vegetables, but does have one cock ....

Oh....!

Nothwithstanding my rubbish humour, nice chambering for a meat-gun, Norman. I fully concur.

Norman, nice gun in a good calibre, but that background, very suggestive.

Sorry Norman. Hope you have a sense of humour with the crappy replies we have made.

Your rifle is a decent rifle in an excellent chambering. I would be pleased to own such a rifle myself.
