I say definitely not, I consider the most important and rewarding part of hunting is using and practicing your outdoor skills. If someone needs a device like that maybe they should spend more time in the woods and less time trying to make hunting easier

My professional roo-shooter mate in Central Qld uses one occasionally to find downed roos in long grass at night. They are often shot out to 200m or so, and by the time the vehicle is manouvered around trees, across gullies etc to the general area, they can be hard to find. He's had one for a couple of years now, so obviously an earlier model, but reckons it works well.

As for hunting, I've got enough stuff in my day-pack as it is!

"Gee, I wonder where that buffalo has gotten to? Better get out the 'sniffer' gadget and try to find it. Could it be behind that big grey thing over there...?"

Oi! Tone it down...
This isn't AR or HA y'know!

You're s'posed to be a moderator remember, try to set a good example.

A roo will quite likely kill a miniature fox terrier because the little dogs have a big heart and don't know when to back off. Besides, I've never known a pro roo shooter to write a foxie off on tax!

An example's being set but its not a good one.

While I conceed that pro roo shooters dont make a habit of screwing up shots, they do occasionally. Especially on a windy night. And you only need one roo to leave a shooter minus one dog. Having said that I have never known a roo shooter to own a foxy anyway. Where I hunt they all seem to have some sort of pig or roo dog. Wolfhound, Staghound or bullArab, pittyx thing.

Perhaps the roo shooters in Victoria use foxy's. Both of them...

Three OH. West Retreat. I used to hunt near Moonie. There was a Retreat station there. Is that close to West Retreat? Other than that I'm thinking St George.

Under most hunting conditions, I'd say that device isn't/shouldn't be needed. But, I can see an application for it in the dark, or if the weather turns bad, and rain or snow obliterates a track, and there is a danger of loosing the wounded animal.

Re my post on nthe foxie it was simply to point out that basically any dog with a bit of training can find a dead/wounded roo in the long grass etc far better than such a device ever could.
Ahem i have bred and owned numerous good roo dogs and pig dogs and i do know what constitutes a good handy breed fellas.

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit isn't it?

WELL WHY DONT YOU STICK TO YOUR OWN PRINCIPLES MARTY AS YOU CAN READ YOUR OWN FRIGGIN` SARCASM BELOW AND THEN TRY AND GRASP WHAT I`M SAYING IN RETURN...

Perhaps the roo shooters in Victoria use foxy's. Both of them...

Obviously mr marty correctness himself dosent apply the same principles to his own friggin posts or have i got it wrong and it was a different marty that wrote the above...he really did shoot his own foot with another sarcastic answer, eh marty..i suppose i will now have to put up with a lot more of your sarcasm as it seems it kosher for you but not others....have a really really nice day old chap...

Yeah, I was being sacastic with that comment. So what....? Doesn't change it from still being the lowest form of wit.

Instead of running round biting everyones head off I suggest you take a Bex and have a lie down. Your skin seems a bit thin for even the most basic of criticisms.

How about adding some Kiwi animals to the list

Oh I realise now.....your an idiot. What part of "Australian Top Five" do you fail to understand? Do you think that the subject of Australian top 5 just might preclude NZ specific animals?

Can this dispute over nothing be taken off the public boards please.

Please keep the discussions on topic and away from personal attacks.

As Marrakai pointed out, this is not AR or HA.
