You've been busy, Mick!
Great photos, pining to get back over the ditch myself but will now have to wait till it warms up again for this lizard to truly enjoy it.
Thanks for the reminder, tho...

Mick, it certainly looks like you had a good trip. Some fantastica photos. Steyr must of been happy when you returned home.

How's a bloke from the warm flat areas of aussie find the South Island of NZ in winter? I love it but find it hard going and blood cold.

Layered clothing with thermals, makes the cold bearable. Did some fitness work before leaving and had a comfortable trip. Went with good advice with the hunters element gear, mac pac tents, stoney creek black stag sleeping bags, ultra light therma rests.
Mostly over the top with the gear but prepared for the worst. Second night in fiordland,it rained and high winds. 6th day weather forecast was for gail force winds , hail and snow down to 500m so decided to come out 3 days early. In hindesight a good choice. We had to move Chris tent on the second night as the river rose and a high tide bought levels up to his tent. High flat ground was at a premium.
Only had one bad morning with the cold at Omarama, struggling to cast flies when I realised the eylets had frozen on the rod. Hands were numb so hastly returned to the car to find out it was -1. Bit different to Darwin.
Hot tubs at Omarama were awesome.
Already looking to do a return trip for thar and chamois. Also for the trout.
Cheers Mick

G'Day Fella's,

Mick, some of those images, bring back some great memories for me!
I've spent a bit of time in Crooked Spur Hut!
Shot a nice 12"+ Bull Tahr, at just under 6000ft up in the T-T Range, to the West of the hut.
FYI, I think Laurie P at Mesa, has a Hughes 500 these days. So for a fee, that will help you avoid all those B-Stream crossings, and allow you to take some luxuries along!

Looks like you had yourself a great time in NZ. Better luck finding a Bull and a Chamois, on your next trip!!!
Mick, email me if if you think I may be able to assist, with some advice on this. I can show you photo's of where to, from Crooked Spur Hut.

Regards
Homer

Incredible

I don't infer that now You can happily die, but
sure enough, Mick you visited the paradise.
