Anyone hunted buffalo with HUNT AUSTRALIA???

I was thinking of doing a Water Buff hunt in Australia. Has anyone used Hunt Austalia before? I spoke with Matt Graham, and he seems to be a straight up guy. What are your thoughts?

Matt Graham! First Mark Sullivan and now you mention the MS of Australia?! What a c@nt!

Ha ha, only joking, Matt is a friend of mine. I hunted with Matt at his Gan Gan concession as his first ever client with Hunt Australia when he was considering buying the Hunt Australia outfitting business from Bob Penfold. The story (which was only ever have finished on NE!) is on these forums. From about 2004 or 2005 I think.

I also hunted with Matt personally as a fellow client on banteng with an outfitter who Matt booked banteng hunts with. Some of the photos and stories are also on Ne.


One of our members is also one of his guides/PHs from time to time.

Lots of other members and friends have hunted with him.

Definitely worth considering for a top end hunt, and I don't doubt Hunt Australia and Matt will do fine by you.

I will post some photos later when I have time.

Great! Thanks for the info! That opening comment did surprise me a bit! He seemed like a nice guy when I emailed him. And in the videos I've seen him in, he seems like he runs a first class outfit. I may actually end up doing an Australian hunt rather than an African hunt, simply because it's more affordable, and you can kill multiple buffalo. And I like the fact that everyone speaks English there. I would consider travelling there alone, but wouldn't travel alone to Africa. I'd love to see the pictures you mentioned.

Would be one of only six operators I would look at for a top end hunt.

But don't be concerned to travel to Africa alone. Most of the time you are escorted throughout your Safari.

True. And in any case simple precautions and being sensible keeps one OK most of the time anyway. Its an adventure.

Really you have to come to Australia to do an Asiatic (water) buffalo hunt. They just dont have enough of them in Africa!!

Yes, I would be surprised to see an Elephant and an Asiatic Water Buff on the same day!
I'm not much of a fisherman, Mike. Unless you can shoot them.

Glad to see this old thread revived! However, I haven't been on a buff hunt yet. I decided to pay off my mortgage first, which will be a reality on January 29, 2015! So a hunt will definitely be in the works again soon! In the mean time, I ran across a SAKO 416 Rem. Mag that should do a fine job.
