Brno ZG 47 best year?

Hello

I am a ZG47 enthusiast from Sweden who has some questions:

Is there any difference between quality, finish and steel depending on the manufacturing year?

It seems that those late copies from 1962 have a smoother finish on the action?

Is there any difference in the triggers?

If there is a difference between the years, witch year is the best according to you?

There were no real differences in steel and quality.
But in finish there were two types . One ,the more common smoothly polished receiver and some less desirable with a rougher (looks like sandblasted)receiver.The added pictures will show the difference.
Following the Czech proof date the rough finish were earlier productions.
But is difficult to pin down "best production years".
Two types in triggers: Double stage and single stage.The single stage more desirable in my eyes.
All the rest depends on what you prefer and the individual state of the rifle.
There were different style of stocks and 55 and 60 cm barrel length and shape.
Luckily You live in a country where it is relative easy to find the desired specimen.

I realize this question was not part of the information being sought; however, I had to ask, is the forearm checkering factory on the top specimen?

Yes factory made. It was found on the more slender stocks, not on the more often seen with the schnabel forend.
That rifle was in .270 Win and 60cm barrel length.

I had not noticed this style previously.... I have only one ZG47 with a checkpiece and it has the standard schnabel fore arm and 60mm barrel. That checkering looks like something that would have come from the Mauser or Steyr factories.
Thanks for the photo. I need one of those........here is a photo of the one I own with a cheek-piece stock.

Looking at quality of machining, fit and polish I would say 1957, 1957 and 1958. I got an early zg-47 that is as very well machined. Feeds empty cases from magazine and very smooth action.

I love the Internet! The bottom of those two, the one with the 'Sornet' scope, is my rifle – a 55 cm barrelled 7x64.
That's one of the eGun pictures.
It shoots MOA with S&B eXergy 158gr and now wears a Leica Visus 3-12 x 50. Wouldn't swap it for anything!

I have 3 ZG 47 , 1 from 56, 1 from 57 an 1 from 62. The one from 62 has a smooth polished finish compare to the earlier ones that is moore rugged. Are there any downsides with using the one from 62 compared to the earlier ones?

I have a .30-06 with approx 21.6" barrel, no cheekpiece,no pistol grip cap and with the grey "vapor blast" receiver. I also have a 8x64S with polished blued receiver that matches the 24" barrel. This one has a cheekpiece and a plastic pistol grip cap similar to the pic posted by TexasJohn. Both of mine had shrunk butt plates that I replaced with recoil pads.
These guns are well made and I understand only about 20 000 were produced.The only thing I don't love is the separate magazine box. The straddle floorplate, the in the bow release of the all steel bottom metal is otherwise very desirable.I also like the 3.47" magazine length which allows bullets to be seated out for max performance reloads.The single stage adjustable trigger is also very good.
