Mannlicher M1895 build
      #331322 - 18/08/19 06:04 AM

I have finally gotten the rifle together, barreled, chambered and the stock 90% still need checkering and sling swivels barrel swivel and fine tuning. Started out an action found in the local gun shop.
The stock is an English walnut semi-inletted found on the web, I am not real happy with the stock but will make a good pattern for a black walnut blank I have once I get it shooting. Just waiting for form dies and brass.

Rolland, this grand old lady certainly has had a bit of make up done & a new dress to wear.....I rather do like how it has turn out!
Certainly no show pony, just an honest & reliable hunter; good at least for another 100 years I reckon!
What calibre did you decide on?

needs checkering but you allways know it

Congratulations on your work, this is a great achievement.
Are you going to scope the rifle at a later stage; if yes, which type of mounts will you go for?

Very nice.

I think the stock looks clean and simple without the checkering.

Perhaps save that for the black walnut?

Is Black walnut someway better than this wood ? IMO this one looks quite nice, woods figure much like those original british made.

English, French, Bastogne are the beautiful walnuts, varying in colour and intensity depending on where the trees grew, imho.
Black walnut is normally quite plain & soft in comparison, but can also have some figure.

This rifle needs some "modest" checkering, in my opinion. Looks vacant to me.

I had not planned to put a scope on it, and I am not aware of any mounts that would be available that would work due to loading with a clip.
