Beceite Ibex
      #22229 - 14/12/04 11:06 PM

Some days ago I friend of mine phoned me to go with him to try an Ibex. I can't say no to this kind of hunts so we met in north-east Spain last Friday to hunt Saturday and Sunday. We sleept in a country house, just below the mountains. A nice place to be.

Early in the morning there was a wonderful day. Sunny, not too cold and there was no fog. At 9 we were walking up in the mountains. In less of an hour I could see some females and also a big one (to expensive this time ). I didn't know this side of my country and I'm really shocked of that beauty.

At midday I found the one I wanted (to pay for ) with a small one (the one in the picture).

I shooted him from 200 m but he desapeared into the bushes. In half hour I found him again with a broken leg. This time, the distance was more then 350 meters, but I had to try and I did it. It was a lucky shot. The picture shows the place where there was.

It was a 6-7 years old male. A good one for his age (and price too ).

After lunch I tried a female. This time was so easy. A 150 meters shot after a couple of hours walk.

Once again my 6.5x57R did his best in a great enviroment. I'll come back next year.

Very nice indeed. Which is the typical ibex? The 1st with the horns closer together or the 2nd with the wide-spread horns?

The typical Ibex in this area is like the first one, the lire form. Anyway, old bulls are wide-spread than young ones.

The first one was 7 years old and the last one was 14 years old.

Wow, 14 years old. Did it have any teeth left? Do you know how old these animals can live? And lastly, very nice Ibex.

The teeth was already moving

I know about a 17 years old ibex hunted, but this is very rare. 14-15 y.o. are usually the olders.

470,
How are the fees set on this ibex? Sounds like the older or larger the animal, the more expensive? Is this something the private landowner assigns, outfitter, or ???

Beautiful animal and beautiful area to hunt in.

There're several prices in both (private/public) lands. Females are cheapers, then small ones and finally 3 different prices for the big bulls.

The owner fix the prices
